the largest factor forbiding thai submarines is the fact, that the Gulf of Thailand doesn't have any greater depths than 50 meters . . .the average depth is 28 meters.!! Where do they intend to dive?? I don't know if the Thai Navy is planning to ram submarines into the bottoms of the gulf and bury them in sediment, or actually trying to dive.

A thai submarine in the andaman sea is as useless as the balls of the pope.

Maybe they will try to sink their own ships by friendly fire . . .as they did with a destroyer in the short shootout at Koh Chang, against the french. They managed to almost sink their own ship.

not it is mostly between 50-70 meter on the naval charts

To keep everyone happy and save a heap of money and face at the same time, why not buy 3 of those little mini-subs like the Japanese used in WW2 ?

They are really cute and would look a treat decked out in Hello Kitty insignias. clap2.gif

They can run it up the Chao Phraya with a full volley of water cannons to excite the tourists GoldenSmile1.gif

A desalination plant???

BANGKOK (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Bangkok's tap water supply may run out in a month, as the country waits for long overdue rains to replenish sources depleted by drought and threatened by seawater creep, the chief of the capital's water authority said.

Thailand is suffering its worst drought in more than a decade. In an effort to maintain water levels in the dams that supply water for agriculture in the provinces as well as taps in the capital Bangkok, the government has asked farmers to refrain from planting rice since last October.

Despite these measures, water levels are critically low in the three key reservoirs that flow into the Chao Phraya River, one of the two main sources of Bangkok's tap water.

That's unfair to most Thais.

I dare say less than 0.1% agree with the subs .... but unfortunately they are the ones with guns and chestfuls of medals.
