Absolutely great QB......Pressure made him better......He also lived hard (as did the whole team) ......

A 'vette was his choice of car - but sometimes he'd forget where he left them......

Use to be in a lot of the same places they partied in......Chatting with them & having a good time......However - one time it took an unexpected twist.....After seeing/talking & having a good time with them we/I was drawn to the side by some DEA guys.....We were warned "hands off" as they had been shadowing them for an ongoing & long time investigation and it would be better off for us if we didn't associate with them.......

That was enough for me - in those days athletes did not carry the rock star/walking conglomerate status they do today......

Never did hear that anything ever came out of it - I'm sure they were teflon coated/insulated even then.....

I would guess that the DEA interest was due to painkillers, but then again they were a wild group during a wild time. ;-)

Great quarterback RIP. Kenny the "Snake" Stabler threw one of the nicest, tightest most accurate spirals. And for those who had the pleasure of watching the famous "ghost to the post" pattern he will be missed.
