Recommended adhesive remover?

Featured Replies

Hello,
I've got aluminum window frames with awful adhesive marks. It's from that 'cloth' tape (like Duck Tape). It's all dried on and I don't really want to scratch the window frames to get it off. I tried nail polish remover but that won't shift it. I read online that WD-40 works but that didn't either. I then went to Home Pro and bought a spray can of 3M Adhesive remover - super-expensive, super-stinky and ...useless.
Before I waste any more money, I thought I'd ask on here is anyone can recommend a brand to try.
many thanks for any replies!

If it's 'dried on' the solvent based products won't work. Try heating it up with a Hair Dryer and then applying the solvent. Citrus oil is also a good remover of glue, but again, not dried on.

1 part vegetable oil, two parts baking soda. Let soak.

Cheers

Hairdryer as mentioned above and rubbing alcohol on cotton wool pads.

Hydrochloric acid will work. But wear protective clothing and special protective gloves.

Don't get near the acid ... apply at length sparingly ... wait 2 min ..then wipe clean with lots of water.

not sure if it will also remove the powder coating on the aluminium frame .. ?

be careful.

Just to keep the trend of every response having a different suggestion....

Eucalyptus oil :)

Yes, that works! Heating it up is the secret, I didn't know to do this. I used a hair dryer and then the 3M adhesive remover works fine, problem solved, many thankssmile.png
