BANGKOK, 15 July 2015 (NNT) - The Meteorological Department has warned those traveling to Japan to take precautions as Typhoon Nangka heads for southern Japan today.

According to the forecast, the typhoon will not affect the weather conditions in Thailand. The North of Thailand will experience 40 percent precipitation tomorrow, mostly in the upper part of the region.

Thundershowers have been predicted in most part of the Northeast. Forty percent of the Central Plains and the East Coast will experience wet weather conditions, especially Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi and Suphanburi, Chanthaburi and Trat provinces. The department predicts the same 40 percent precipitation in Bangkok and its vicinity tomorrow.

Meanwhile, southern residents have been told to brace for thundershowers, which have been forecast in most areas of the region. Fishermen should proceed with caution, as waves could reach as high as three meters.

A recent U.S. Navy JTWC graphic. This sucker passed Saipan as a super typhoon about a week ago, moving slowly on its' 4000 nautical mile journey across the pacific. Tokushima will get slammed, but it will weaken quickly as it is destroyed by the jet stream winds. I have a Japanese friend having her wedding in Sapporo 7/20, forecast for rain and she wanted to use the garden for the reception. Hoping most of the precip will go south and they will be OK for the garden party.
