Longtime Landmark: Going; Going...Gone!

post-14810-0-61329400-1437911452_thumb.jSunday, July 26: Alleyway between Sukhumvit Soi's 5 & 7, next to Beergarden.

Wow....not been the same since the restaurant closed.

I wonder what is going to be built??

Hopefully another shopping mall! I was walking around yesterday thinking if there were only a few more high end shops like Coach or LV....

Rumors abound about the alley space along with the fate of the Beergarden itself. The management has been unsuccessful in expanding the business...the Disco was stillborn and the renovated upstairs restaurant area gathers dust.

I have heard a lot of speculation about an Arab style market bazaar being developed in the alley space, catering to the always increasing crowds of Middle Easterners in the area.

If that should happen, the BG will be quickly gone..

Ah, the tunnel. Only thing worth remembering being the Kebab guy on the Soi 5 end and" Country Road". Pool table, Thai Band playing the likes of CCR covers, and cheerful BG's.

The kebab guy was there yesterday and doing a decent trade. I was having me hair done and could hear the band playing somewhere murdering that 'Beds are Burning' song by that abysmal Aussie band.....
