I imagine it's mostly something to do with some sort of superstition. I will say, though, that once our son started walking they became incredibly handy to keep track of him. As soon as they went quiet you would know he was up to no good

It's to protect the infant from the bad spirits on the house and practicality it's also serves as a noise maker so you know if they have crawled off too far

They put on my daughter. Wasnt happy at first. But got over it. At least we hear when she wakes up.

around here we just put a cow bell on the kids , and put them out in the yard with the livestock
