I bought loads of them for my friends in Europe. And the wooden cribbet frogs...

Mothers can hear the kids running around. A bit like sqeeky shoes.

None have died.

But some parents wanted to kill me, over the frogs. Kids just love them.

I imagine it's mostly something to do with some sort of superstition. I will say, though, that once our son started walking they became incredibly handy to keep track of him. As soon as they went quiet you would know he was up to no good

It's to protect the infant from the bad spirits on the house and practicality it's also serves as a noise maker so you know if they have crawled off too far
