Need advise about PVB,recording from True Vision.

I use to record movies on a taperecorder, but since mine "died",I have not been able to find a good new one.Guess they don`t make them anymore. True has a PVB for rent or sell, don`t know which, but if I understand it correctly, that one can only record for one hour, which is meaningless for what I need it for. So,can anyone tell me if there is a recorder in the Thai market, that can record many hours from,f.ex. True Vision? Either on CD:s or harddisk Or both.I know very little about modern days machines,so please keep it simple if you care to help me,which would be very appreciated! BTW;I know that I can ask for information in the shops, but from experience, either they do not know more than I do or,if they do,they are not able to explain it to somebody like me.(Probably my fault...) Thanks beforehand!

Do you mean PVR? I bought an external hard drive from True, (500GB or 1TB), can't remember, that plugs into the back of my True box. I'm sure it records much more than an hour of HDTV.

There are other threads on this site where you might gain more information. here is one: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/539331-using-true-visions-hd-set-top-box-as-pvr-with-esata-harddisk/

Although it discusses using a non True drive, I think there is other info. there.

The PVR from Truevisions is a must have, and it only costs 99 baht a month. The amount of recording is unlimited because you can buy any amount of hard discs to attach to the PVR. Even 1 1 terabyte hard disc can record hundreds of hours of TV, even HD. I find it so easy to use and so flexible. You can set the recording with one click, upto 7 days in advance, and then watch later, or keep for future use. I would never be without it now.

You can order the hard disk over the phone from True, but as I recall it was a bit of a fuss, as no one seemed to have them in stock.

I bought mine from the True store in the Mall on the other side of the BTS track from Siam Discovery. I don't know the name of the mall, but it is sort of open air type of place.

Needs a special cable, ESATA?. True's way of making you buy from them.

You can buy an ordinary hard drive and use a "work around", by finding a compatible external box with ESATA? See link in my earlier post to another thread on ThaiVisa to find more info, or just do a search.
