Head to Suk soi 107 (bearing) on your LH side will be plenty of fairy lights, thats the place you want.

What sort of place? Coffee shop? Restaurant/bar?

With "fairy lights", he might be referring to the ugly girlie bars in the middle of 107 ... FYI, half of them have been recently demolished.

The bars got demolished or the ugly girls? ;)

Jeez ... just google Bangkok Float Center. It has nothing to do with Thai massage!

Funny reading this post, I just booked into this place as it's been recommended by 2 friends, I'll post a report saturday.....sorry for off topic.

And yes....Nothing to do with massage, but relative to udom suk

If you go down Udomsuk Road (sukhumvit 103) a few kms down on the left is a great Thai place called '55 Udomsuk' Great for beers, Thai food and a bit of music. Across the road are a few more local bars worth checking out.

True that.

If you go back a bit opposite soi 7 there's a great short time hotel.

On the outside it don't look like much but rooms are big and some of them come with a jacuzi, plenty of mirrors and 3 porn channels on the tv.

Big Burger, quite a ways down 101/1. I guess first couple times I was not so impressed.

Big Burger has a tempting menu -- home-style, "comfort food" -- but the taste of the food is less than tempting. Service not so great either. I made an effort to go there once. That was enough.

I'm looking for ... Indian ... kinds of restaurant in the udom suk area

This is at the East end of Udom Suk, quite far from the BTS, but for Indian food, I can highly recommend, Flavours of India, Premier Place shopping area, Srinakarin Road, close to Makro store.

I've eaten there twice and ordered for home delivery once.

Clean, well organized, acceptable service.

Also: a restaurant delivery service provides home delivery from this restaurant to the Bangna area: search for "GoTasty" dot com.

If you want somewhere a bit more upper class, there is an absolutely lovely place with beautiful gardens, a small coffee shop that does cakes and ice creams and a small health food shop that does nice salads.

Read more here - http://www.bangkoktourist.com/site/en/the-66-cottage/

Across the soi is a new place called Fattory which opened 2 months ago. It is a restaurant and bar. The food isn't bad, Western and Thai options. Hangout for upwardly mobile young Thais.

Been a while since I've visited this thread....
I made it to the 66 Cottage on Soi 66...it has a very beautiful garden area...there's even a nice little organic food shop in the garden. Haven't tried the coffee yet, but probably good. Pretty 'hi-so' vibe. Noticed the Fattory restaurant directly opposite, but haven't tried yet. Also interesting is that there is an amazing recording studio on that lane that has just been completed. The manager even gave me a tour: Looks world class.

Been meaning to say that the little Kebap Co. burger/shawarma restaurant near the tiny police box at Udom Suk intersection (with Sukhumvit), is open again. I've eaten there 3 times--always get the beef shawarma (not sure if that's what they call it). It's been fine. They ask you which "sauces" you want. You get to choose 2 from a little tray. I made the mistake of not saying "a little" one time and got way too much mayonnaise. If you ask, they have a yogurt and spice "sauce" in the fridge that's good (again, I say, "just a little").

I also should say that Manuel, the Dutch owner of 101 Restaurant on Sukhumvit 101/1 has sold out to an Englishman named Peter. Manuel had been making me a fantastic veggie omelet and Peter has carried on the tradition. I also recently asked Peter if he might occasionally make French toast for me and he said sure. I've had that once (with bacon), and it was very good. When Manuel ran the place, I can't say I ever really looked at the menu, since I always had my veggie omelet. However, now that Peter is running it, I did look at the menu and see he has a whole page of breakfast, with 2 versions of the traditional British breakfast (with beans, etc.). I see he's offering a hard cider and I think the menu has several other new entries. I think he's off to a very good start!

Just to second about 101, Peter the new owner really nice guy. And anyone who reads this must go for a Sunday roast, been going on about this for ages as just something we did not have in the area and always had to go lower suk. Not only close by but it's far better than any I have had at Sportsman, Robin Hood, Kiwi etc etc

Not had the breakfast but my mate has been a few times and said its great also. Really hope goes well for him and it stays open.

Used to go Develish a lot but their service has gone so bad that it's outweighs the quality of the food. Many items not available on the menu and over 2 hours wait for food to be delivered same soi. Really hope they can sort this out but won't be back till they do.

New itallian and wine bar opened up on udom suk 51 will give a bit more info when go this week.

Have walked by 101 and never went in. It's a little hole in the wall tiny restaurant with no frills, but their prices suggest otherwise.

I previously enjoyed Devilish a lot, but now their service and quality have dropped while prices have risen. The menu has also changed for the worse.

The Italian place is ok.

Steak Lao on 103 is pretty good.

Korea BBQ in one udom suk is pretty good.

Cat and rabbit cafes are fun to do once.

I was over there today looking at a property. Just my opinion...but after getting good vibes at Happyland, yesterday, I was kind of turned off by the Udom Suk area. It just makes me wonder if the whole BTS thing is over-rated. Sure, billions were made, but I doubt the people that made it stuck around. In return, you have people paying premium rent to live near it, and it's not cheap to use, by Thai standards. It seemed to lack charm and personality. 60,000 PSM for some pretty bad construction doesn't seem to appealing, either. If you're happy, good for you. I think I would even prefer the Ladpao MRT area, which has its own nuances, but last night it took me about five minutes to find a good place to sit down and grab a cold, cheap beer, with some Thais. I've been in Chiang Mai for a few years, so part of my perspective is based on that. It does appear that the regular folks around here in BKK have much better English skills, but many are saying that their English skills in CM have gotten worse over the last 10 years, and I would agree.

Anyone know a badminton court not to far from bts udomsuk? 15 minutes walk max.

I can't find any!

Don't know anywhere in a 15 minute walk but if you take a bike from the BTS and turn on to Udom Suk 51 then take a turn on to Soi Prewit Lae Phuen 14 there is a big badminton center there. About 10 mins bike and cost be about 50b

Is that the bestminton place?

I was hoping for something a little closer. But thanks anyway!

Auch. I see online that bestminton courts are 400 baht per hour, that's really steep in my opinion.

Yea that's the name couldn't think of it top of my head. I have no other knowledge of sports halls closer.

I do believe there is something near bang Jak BTS but I have only been told about it a while ago and never been. Around Soi 95 or somewhere near.

We did used to have Piyarom sports club by Topps but it got knocked down. Prices were really high for a day pass and members but facilities were great.

The Drum Korean restaurant, just a little bit past where Ginza used to be on Udomsuk (you can still park in the old Ginza area), is excellent and very good value. Run by Koreans and a lot of Koreans eating there which is probably a good recommendation. We eat there a couple of times a month.

Made it to Drum Korean a few weeks ago finally. Man, was it good! I got one plate of meat, which the guy barbecued for me. Came with about 8 small dishes of kimchi and various related veggies and things. With a tall Leo beer, I think less than 500 baht for everything. When I'm due for a treat again, I'm going back!

RE: Above shwarma/kebab shop...after reopening for a month or so, it closed for good. Then I noticed some guys working in the tiny shop and now I have seen it's reopened as Craft Intersect, a craft beer bar! Cool idea. Haven't been in for a brewski yet, but it's high on my to-do list.
https://www.facebook.com/craftintersect/

Another development that kind of bums me out: About a 10 minute walk down Soi 101 there had been an outdoor steak restaurant with very inexpensive but tasty sirloin steaks. The only bad thing about it was, there was often a career alcoholic (Westerner), and what seemed to be his Thai girlfriend/enabler who would be there getting snockered most nights. It wasn't too bad until he'd made it most of the way through his fifth of whiskey and start really ranting, oblivious to other patrons.
Anyway, it's no longer a steak restaurant...not sure what it has become...some sort of Chinese restaurant? Looks cleaner and tidier, which is nice, but also a bit 'hiso.' Guess I should go try it/have a closer look sometime.

Actually the shoarma shop relocated about 200 meters. If you stand in front craft intersect walk along sukhumvit towards bangna and turn right at the 7-11 and is about 50 meters in the soi on the left hand side. It's a weird location, not easy to find if you don't know it.
