Thai Tourism Minister has plans afoot to woo Hollywood

You mean like Owen Wilson's new film?

Allowed to film in Thailand but now banned??? that's a good way to 'woo Hollywood'

False information, according to Richard Barrow. But the damage is done and this will hurt, even if it is false news. http://www.richardbarrow.com/2015/08/no-escape-is-not-banned-will-be-released-in-thailand-on-10-september/

Hollywood is broke too. Only new ideas that are the source of revenue will develop. Anything that tries to pull money from some perceived other from the old paradigm will not sustain.

Harrison Ford, Mark Wahlberg, Julia Roberts etc. buggle up to get extorted by RTP, Immigration, taxi-drivers and everybody else in "friendly" Thailand ... cheesy.gif

The natives will not get close to these sorts of personages due to the body guards and various hangers on they have with them and the "thai fixer" will be some big poo yai anyway

oh, well let's see... hopefully common sense will prevail and the film previously known as 'The Coup' with it's upside down Thai signs will be shown :)

Attract Hollywood producers ? Ruin Thailand filming areas ? Lets have 34 more exoensive, ( lunch/dinner included ), meetings and maybe a trip for 50 people to

Hollywood to ? ? ?

Good point! For Thailand, I think, a brand new paradigm would be "The Brain"...

The plot: From outer space, a huge brain makes it down to earth, and (slightly sizzled, yet fully functional) lands right in the center of Bangkok. The brain connects with the inhabitants of the city and all of a sudden, everyone starts to actually think! Traffic is reduced to 25% as people use shared rides, luxurious shopping centers are empty, people buy just the daily necessities, the rich and powerful all of a sudden wear casual clothing and use bicycles... yet chaos ensues, people march the streets, demanding freedom of speech and democracy. The "Think for yourself" movement (logo is cartoon image of a brain with arms and legs, climbing out of a Papaya Pok Pok mortar on purple background) is suppressed by armed forces, the junta leader nukes the brain, everyone falls back to their previous, lethargic status, shopping malls and streets are stuffed again, corruption and useless spending at an all time high.

The End.

How ironic if any forthcoming movie/documentary/programme that might arise as a result of a trial currently underway was filmed in Burma...

Interesting timing.

Documentary 'An Open Secret' aims to expose child predators in Hollywood Amy Berg's documentary "An Open Secret," which hits New York on Friday amid a struggle to get it seen — and a threatened lawsuit from SAG-AFTRA, one of Hollywood's most powerful union groups. But Berg and her film's team are intent on getting the word out about sexual predators in the TV, movie and modeling business who abuse kids. The film is beginning a theatrical rollout in 20 cities nationwide."The problem goes far and deep in Hollywood," says "An Open Secret" executive producer Gabe Hoffman. "The film tries to establish that the industry clearly has an institutional resistance [to calling out predators]. There should be, among many things, background cross-checking for people who work with children."Adds coproducer Matthew Valentinas, "This might be the film that busts the dam on this subject."

It might be a good time for the foreign film business to relocate to Thailand long known as a popular sexpat destination. Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Rai, all are a pedophile's dream destination. Thailand can roll out the welcome wagon

If you can link any stories that validate your statement that Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Rai are all a pedophile's dream destination please do so or just admit you are a making up a very hurtful story.wai2.gif PS even though a lot of people would like to define children as women under 40 the definition is pre pubescent children.

Maybe she should start a campaign to let the actors bring their dogs with them when they film.biggrin.png
