Howitzer Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 The last time i visited was during the songkran period and i am eager to go back but just to make sure am i missing out on anything if i were to visit this month or next month? I don't want to wait till october because it will be too long a wait.
NanLaew Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) Come back now and stay through September before leaving. That way, you will miss nothing except Loy Krathong. PS. Noi misses you. Edited August 12, 2015 by NanLaew
bkksteve123 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Keep in mind that September is the rainiest month, which statistically sees 21 rainy days and a total of 334mm of precipitation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bangkok#Climate). Having said that, August and October and not much better. Just something to keep in mind when you come here, if you've only been here in April. Usually though the rain comes in the evening and lasts a few hours, other than that it's mostly cloudy but you do get some sunshine as well. It seldom rains here all day like we see in parts of Europe. If you're coming for a beach holiday, I would recommend postponing to November. If not, you'll be fine!
impulse Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 If you're coming for a beach holiday, I would recommend postponing to November. If not, you'll be fine! Isn't that the high season when crowds get thick and prices go through the roof?
geriatrickid Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 There is no bad month to visit Thailand. Do you have the concession on rain gear during monsoon season?
impulse Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 There is no bad month to visit Thailand. Do you have the concession on rain gear during monsoon season? I'm not investing until I convince enough tourists to visit during the monsoon... But even during the monsoon, the MRT and BTS still run, the shops and pubs are still open, the beer's still cold, and the cuties are still cute.
Berkshire Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Just come when the itch becomes unbearable. Time of year matters not.
wow64 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 There is no monsoon season this year the previous governments removed it. So come anytime .... Now is better then later. Sent from my c64
CNXTim Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 (edited) Yes, either - the joint is empty, plenty of deals. Edited August 12, 2015 by CNXTim
smotherb Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Well, that depends on what you want to do doesn't it? If you are going to party all night and sleep until afternoon with your latest honey, the weather is of little matter. If you want to be a tourist and visit the beaches, ride the elephants, see the temples, climb up to the waterfalls, and buy the t-shirts; the weather may be an issue. November to February may be best weather; as someone else said. If you're worried about the cost, come during the monsoon season--April to October--it is the low season.
garyinhuahin Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 More people come in late November - February exactly because the weather is nicest then. Take your pick. Sometimes the rains are heavey in Sept, Oct, and early November. Sometimes not.

Absolut Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 If you're worried about the weather then it depends on where you plan on visiting. Phuket seems to be flooded at the moment but the east coast islands (Samui and such) are fine. Bangkok and Hua Hin are also pretty dry it seems of late.

Phuket: Pattaya: A significant difference.
mihalis Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 any month is good in Thailand.. Monsoon season and all.......
ozyjon Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Now is the best time to come, a light sprinkling of rain at night really helps to cool things down, you can go to a close area like Bangsean or Hua Hin or even Pattaya even better (with not many people there) Rayong. While in Bangkok avoid the rip off tuk tuks and taxis just use the cheap canal boats only 8 baht per ride, takes you everywhere and also a favorite this time of year, the open restaurants usually by a lake, there is usually a pleasant cool breeze that blows through with the slightest whiff of fragrance from the herb gardens surrounding many of these open air restaurants, so come soon not to miss this experience and Noi is waiting for you.
mango66 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Song Khran is not in October ! But if you like the water splash - come now !!! you get it every day from the sky !1 its rainy season !!
sawadee1947 Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 don't visit anyway. You won't miss anything what you can get elsewhere (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam)

TheAsiaTraveler Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Though it's still raining in Phuket, it's sunny in Bangkok and Koh Samui. So just choose your destination carefully!
