PHUKET: August 22 and 23 have been designated for an upcoming safe and healthy food fair to be held at Lime Light Avenue in Phuket Town.

The Phuket Public Health Office (PPHO), in collaboration with the Phuket Agricultural Office, announced details of the event at meeting yesterday (August 14) at the PPHO in Phuket Town.

Presiding over the conference, PPHO deputy chief Dr Krit Sakulpat revealed that the inaugural fair has been officially named the "Bring together the power of safe food [for] healthy Thai people" (งานมหกรรมรวมพลังอาหารปลอดภัยคนไทยสุขภาพดี)

"The PPHO were assigned responsibility to stage the fair, in conjunction with a project to improve agricultural standards in Phuket," explained Dr Krit.

"The objective to promote and build on the standards of agri-food services, for both the private and public sectors, so as to create more income for the province, as well as build confidence in the food operators, tourists and residents of Phuket that [the food sector] here is up to international standards"

Dr Krit added that the fair will also provide a chance for certified agri-food operators in Phuket to promote their services.

The fair will include health challenges, healthy food cooking demonstrations, healthy Phuket Nam Phrik shrimp paste menue preparation demonstration, healthy food exhibitions, passing out of herb and vegetable cuttings by the Phuket Agricultural Office, a "Goat Show" by the Phuket Lifestock Offfice, and of course, lots of healthy and safe food for sale.

"Staged" is right. The veg festival in October is one of the unhealthiest, greasiest foods ever.sick.gif

As in oppose to what ? Is there an unsafe and unhealthy food fair? it's alarming enough that the authorities

have to make a point that the food in the fair will be fit for human consumptions....

Very few ''Thai'' people, understand the term ''Healthy Eating''.. ''Thai Food, is heavily salted and Sugared'' and Greasy into the bargain..

Fortunately there is a few Healthy Eating Restaurants, but they are few and far between...

Same when you go into a Coffee shop, I always say ''No Sugar'' or ''Syrup''....

Fortunately they cannot touch the delicious Fresh Fruit and Veg....

...and all visitors who suffered from food poisoning in the last 6 month will receive a free green banana.

Maybe they should start with Handwashing101............

Call me crazy, but that pic doesn't look like Nam Phrik, but more like a wet larb of some sort.
