I'm no techie so bear with me. I have an Xgody Smartphone from China. Nice bit of kit and was less than £50 and has been great buy. However it has only 4GB of internal storage and basically thats nearly full.

Now it has standard SD slot so used up 2000 Etihad Miles and got a free 16gb card installed no problem.

Now under settings it clearly shows the option to place new Photos Videos (and I assumed Apps) to the SD Card but it clearly doesnt with the Apps.

Trying to download the new Revolut App saying not enough room etc

Am I right in saying that if Internal storage is full no more apps can be downloaded (without removing others) ??

Yes likely, it was a huge problem on my old IQ4, 1GB internal storage and 1.5GB on the phone storage.

On that phone, some apps could be stored on the mini sd card but far from all.

On my new IQII no aps can be stored on the mini sd card but it got a lot more storage space.

I read here and elsewhere that they starting going away with mini sd cards but made the phones with bigger internal storage.

Apps you download into your phone can usually be moved to external memory (SD card) but apps pre-installed by the manufacturer usually can not.

You might need to either uninstall some apps that you infrequently use or disable some to free up some memory.

Might be worthwhile to go to the Play Store and download "CleanMaster" and run it. It does a very good job of cleaning out junk files and freeing up memory. It will also point out apps you do not use and duplicate photo files as well.

It takes a fair amount of memory itself so not a bad idea to uninstall it after you are finished. It also will spam you, trying to sell paid apps. You can re-install it when you need another clean out.

I have a related problem with a tablet. it has 8Gb storage, but apparently that is divided between device storage and internal SD storage (whatever that means) so although I have a removable 32Gb SD card, when I move apps to the SD card they go to this internal SD and not to the larger capacity removable card.

It is the kids tablet and I would love to give them more apps. But I just can't get much on there.

A note on disabling apps. Apps that are pre-loaded by the manufacturer can not be uninstalled unless you root the phone but they can be disabled, freeing up some of the memory. When you disable an app, you will usually get a dialog box warning about disabling an app, then a confusing 2nd dialog box that asks "Replace with latest version?" or something similar. Just answer "yes". Also, clear the cache.

On my note 3 i rooted it and uninstalled over 90 unwanted apps, mostly samsung bloatware, phone runs fine without them.
