JAS it's a Fortuner smile.png

But 9k seems a little over the top (new or refurb?). Dealer or general auto man?

Should be able to just replace the bearings / brushes for much less, your local auto sparks should be able to sort.

Thanks Crossy ... yes it's at a Toyota Dealer so guess it's exchange. Anyway a new one should be good for the rest of it's life whistling.gif

If you find a decent place to get it overhauled, it's similar to a new one and really cheap. New brushes and bearings usually does the job.

There're plenty of shops doing a good job.

If your alternator's made in Japan, it's much better to get a Japanese one overhauled than buying a new one made in China. I had the problem with a starter and found out that the Chinese starers are really crap. Same goes for alternators.

Even the guys at Mitsubishi told me that it would be much better to overhaul the Japanese starter, than buying a Chinese one.

I still got my first alternator and already 279,000 km on the clock. Made in Japan is quality, Chinese parts wear out pretty fast.

Good luck fining the right shop, it's sometimes worth paying a few more baht and having less problems. Cheers-thumbsup.gif
