Why do you bother to reply your one word post is fatuous and unhelpful

The OP is obviously looking for someone who may have varied experience of where to shop as I am, an interesting OP already attracting the very worst of half witted sarcasm

Because that is the best way to find competitive prices etc. If it's too difficult to type in a destination for airfares etc, maybe he should stay home. Nothing fatuous or sarcastic about it. I used travel agents for years, until I realised that most of them will sell you a fare that gives them the most profit,

Skyscanner.com will give you pretty good info. I generally start there and then then book through the individual airlines website.

You should register for mileage programs for each airline as well. I generally fly star alliance (thai airway, all Nippon, United...etc...). If you fly long trips, you can accumulate enough miles to get a free flight rather quickly.

Travel agents do not offer much in the way it savings as they have to make a profit to cover there costs. They are a dying business after the popularity of the Internet.

Keep an eye out for specials in each company's website. I have found some great deals from time to time.

Well I will be the first to apologise if indeed your intention was sincere, you say it was sincere so I am sorry for jumping the gun.

However Google isn't always the best option for looking for the best prices and in fact can be the worst because it can link you to the Static site links that are certainly there for the average Google user and not necessarily the best available prices

I think that the intention of the OP was looking for avenues that maybe the more experience traveler on TVF would have, like how to get the best price via personal knowledge of where to go online

Certain travel agents in Pattaya at one time could beat any price quoted even by the airlines themselves in the UK the equivalent of what the OP may be looking for were at one time called bucket shops

I haven't used a travel agent in more than 10 years because I found I could always do better shopping online.

NB Couldn't quote all the quoted, Giddyup

Me too and Fair play and no argument with that but the OP was looking for specific information, I am sure that he would have gone the google route in the first place before writing his OP

There was sometime ago a travel agent that was run by a German chap who seemed to be able to get flights to all of the European destinations cheaper than anywhere else in Pattaya

I cannot remember where he as based but maybe some the of the older members who have been here some time may well remember him

Start with skyscanner.com

That will give you a general idea.

Next go directly to the airlines that you found on skyscanner.

On top of that I use a European site, it is in Dutch and French, and often beats the above: nouvelles-frontieres.com

And safe too.

I use Orbitz or on line which already has my billing information and now I am familiar with the layout of the websites They seem to be about the same in price; however, may vary with different airlines and stops. The important detail to take note of (and even a travel agent does not know- only you do) is the lay over time you need before going on the next flight once you land in your home country or between flights. For example once I get to O Hare international airport in Chicago from Bangkok (via Japan) I need at least 90 minutes to go through customs, transfer my suitcase to the domestic luggage pick-up and then hustle over to the domestic section for my next flight. The computer generated fight route and even a travel agent may not know the time you need. Also!!!! The cheapest air ticket on Orbitz or Expedia may have a couple stops where you sit at an international airport 6-7 hours instead of one or two hours. Is the $200 savings worth it when it takes you 6 hours longer to get to your destination? So, you need to study the various flight routes and the time you stay at an airport along with the selection of prices. Surprisingly, the Delta flights from Bangkok to Japan give you about one hour before your next flight (depends on your next city) but I have never missed a flight. Also, you need to remember on Orbit and Expedia you can select your seat while booking which is an added plus--if you do it early enough. ---Booking with Air Asia is a whole frustrating experience which most of us know about their scams on the network while booking. You must be alert and sober when booking their flights.

Not much point using this lot if their website isn't in English. Had a look, can't understand a thing, waste of time.

Sorry to hear about the waste of your time.

Other posters may however be willing to put in a little bit more effort.

Au revoir - groeten - greetings.

Whoever mentioned getting a better fare via an agent in pattaya hit the nail on the head.
I tired http://www.skyscanner.co.th/ but can not change to English because everything is in Thai.
I see a drop down menu; can someone indicate clearly which one is for English?
I am interested in the german agent or anyone in pattaya with the best fares.
(FYI since mentioned: Layovers should be about 2 hours or more if one can stand to wait.)
Thank you for the help!

Normally I book flights online but occasionally have a need for package deals or non standard travel.

Have found Massic Travel (currently located on Pattaya 2nd Road on the right just before Dolphin roundabout) to give good service and have been using them, off and on, for maybe fifteen years or more. Whilst they can be contacted online I tend to prefer a face to face to discuss options and get a better understanding of just what is available.

I'll second that and also 4 Seasons Travel opposite Friendship Supermarket in Pattaya Tai is pretty good.

And click the green highlighted button (right), done.

For simple straight flight bookings I also use the internet.

But remember that you take all the responsibilty for the correct entry of data and checking all details of the offer.

A travel agent would not offer you a 32h flight from Europe to Thailand as first choice biggrin.png

Also check carefully the reputation of the booking sites that you are directed to by the search engines.

Always best to book directly at the airlines even if its a few bucks more expensive.

Everything in the drop down is in thai, everything.

Even when opening this account with thai visa i could not complete the actions myself because the captchas or security id checks were in thai, impossible.

i think the sites are reading my ip address and often important or vital info is in all thai even when an English site. FB too!

Using win 7 64 bit, how can i change to have all english?
