Non-immigrant-o Visa

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody :D

I married my Thai girlfriend recently, and I want to go live with her in Thailand asap now.

My questions

- Can anyone tell me how long it usually takes to get a Non-immegrant-O visa? I'm from Holland

- How, where and when will I get the 1 year extension (multiple re-entry).

Will I get the extension right away at the Thai embassy here in Holland?

Or goto Thailand, live there 90 days and then get it (in Australia??, or ??)

Thanks

:o

If you don't opt for the extension, you can do 4 more 90 day visa runs to a border - giving a total stay of 15 months on a non immigrant multiple entry 'O' visa.

Thanks

The Thai Consulate in Holland can be found at:

De Lairessestraat 143

1075 HJ Amsterdam

Tel: 020 465 1532

mob. 06 11 42 84 30

Fax: 020-465 1543

Email: [email protected]

Web Site: http://www.thaiconsulate-amsterdam.org/visa_uk.asp

To answer your questions

1. I can't speak for the Dutch consulate but normally Visas are issued same or next day

2. You apply for the 365 day extension at a Thai immigration office afer you arrive. It's normal for them to put you under consideration for a month or two while they investigate your circumstances. During this waiting period they will extend your first 90 day entry by 30 days at a time.

Hope this helps,

My situation is slightly different than yours - I left Thailand last

week and went to Laos to get my Thai visa at the Thai embassy there.

But, for what it's worth, I just got a single entry marriage '0' visa at the Thai

embassy in Vientiane - it took 2 working days (dropped the paperwork off

on Friday, picked up the visa on Monday afternoon). I think I could have

done this without leaving Thailand, but I don't know how long that would

have taken.

You do understand that you must qualify by supporting your Thai wife in order to obtain an extension of stay from Immigration? To apply you visit Immigration with your wife and the proof/fee during the last 30 days of your permitted to stay period. The multi re-entry permit is a separate 3,800 baht stamp and you would not want to obtain that until you receive your final one year permitted to stay stamp.

Will the new regulations change the situation for those of us with a family in Thailand? I work in Singapore, but visit Thailand several times a month to be with my family (usually for a few days).

I have used a non-immigrant O for many years (multiple entries) and this has worked fine as I often come and go several times a month.

Will the new regulations change anything?

I got mine last april, if i remember correctly it was 120 euro for a multiple entry non immigrant type 'O' visa.

I brought my marriage certificate, 2 pictures and my pasport.

It took about 20 minutes.

Were you planning to apply for a twelve month extension?

If so, why did you pay the extra for a multiple? :o
