PM: Govt economic measures aimed at low-income earners

BANGKOK, 5 September 2015 (NNT) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has soothed worries over the economic woes among low-income earners, assuring the current economic stimulus measures did cater to their needs.

In the government weekly televised program, General Prayut disclosed that the government had launched urgent economic measures, including a two-year interest-free village credit program and a five-million baht extra fund injection for each district.

According to the premier, the programs are expected to promote community-level employment, thus boosting fund circulation within villages. Other than low-wage earners, the government also attaches great importance to small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Industry Minister Atchaka Sibunruang revealed that economic agencies had drafted new measures to support SMEs. She said the Ministry of Finance would propose credit and tax reduction programs at the next cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and related agencies will launch new programs to strengthen the potential and competitiveness of operators.

A vibrant economy fixes all social ills. And it should be a first priority......

Very true, but there are two economies: One for the haves and one for the have naughts. The elites control everything. Thailand could have a nice tech sector, but Taiwan and China are easier to deal with than Thailand. You cannot compete with the breweries.

Good God.

That'll strike a note with anyone wh's ever been to China or tried to do business with the Chinese.

"but Taiwan and China are easier to deal with than Thailand"

Good God Almighty, say it ain't so... That explains why Thailand is so far behind it thinks it's winning the next race.

What the PM didn't mention is the more strict expenditure of the village funds and the need for proper administration coupled with responsability and accountability.

I'm sure no posters have are against proper support for the regions, even though that not part of Bangkok.wink.png
