Malayu Bangkok Intersection in Yala turns into fruit market

BANGKOK, 6 September 2015 (NNT) – Fruit growers in Yala have turned Malayu Bangkok Intersection into a temporary fruit market as the southernmost province is enjoying the fruit harvest season.

Local agriculturists from Bannangsta District have displayed a variety of fruits on the roadside as shoppers are waiting to snap up their goods. Traffic police are particularly busy during this period, having to facilitate both motorists and traders.

Most customers are merchants from different provinces across the country. Some are wholesalers who distribute fruits to local markets or nearby countries. Others are suppliers of food processing factories.

Seasonal fruits in Yala consist of rambutan, langsat, mangosteen, durian and lemon. Prices of most items remain the same except for durians as their outputs are lower than last year.
