webfact
Politico Accuses Soldier of Punching HimBy Khaosod EnglishFormer MP Wattana Mueangsuk shows police today where he alleged a soldier assaulted him Saturday as he was leaving a football field.BANGKOK — A former Pheu Thai MP is accusing the military junta of trying to silence his criticism by dispatching an army thug to assault him at a football field – a charge denied by the military.Wattana Mueangsuk, who has sued the junta for preventing him from traveling abroad, filed an assault charge today over an incident in which he said a soldier punched him after he finished playing football Saturday at a field in northern metropolitan Bangkok.Wattana said the man walked up behind him in the car park, punched him in the head three times and fled the scene. His license plate identified him as a soldier.“So, I’d like to ask the NCPO chairman: What was your subordinate doing at the scene?” Wattana told reporters today, referring to the junta’s formal name, The National Council for Peace and Order, and its chairman Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha.Wattana said he’s confident he was assaulted because of his political opinion because he has no personal grudges with anyone. No one witnessed the altercation, he said, but he photographed his assailant’s vehicle and found it was registered to Sgt. Wissanupong Komtian, an intelligence officer at the 2nd Infantry Division.Division commander Maj. Gen. Srisak Poonprasit said today that while Wissanupong was indeed at the football field on Saturday, he was merely there to “watch football, because he likes to watch sports.”“He’s not related to the physical assault against Wattana at all,” Srisak said. “More importantly, he doesn’t know Wattana.”Full story: http://www.khaosodenglish.com/detail.php?newsid=1442235969 -- Khaosod English 2015-09-
NongKhaiKid
An ' intelligence ' officer ? He must be part of one of the greatest oxymorons in the English language, military intelligence, and when you see some of the people running the country you realise how ridiculous it is. webfact
Ex-Pheu Thai MP files complaint over attack by 'soldier'The NationWattanaBANGKOK: -- FORMER Pheu Thai MP Wattana Muangsuk filed a complaint at Pak Kret Police Station in Nonthaburi yesterday, claiming he had been assaulted by "a man with hair cropped like a soldier" at a Muang Thong Thani football field carpark on Sunday.Wattana said he decided to file a complaint so police could find the attacker and punish him. As evidence he brought along a photograph of a Honda sedan parked behind his car, alleging that it was used "to point the target and provide the culprit protection", adding that the attacker punched him in the back of his head and got away in another car. He went on to say that he checked the Honda sedan registration and learned that it belonged to a Prachin Buri-based Army sergeant. Police recorded the complaint and had Wattana undergo a physical check-up, before dispatching investigators to check on CCTV footage at the scene and find witnesses.Meanwhile, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said yesterday that Wattana had the right to file a police complaint against an attacker. "I don't know what he has said to create enemies, and then he just blames the soldiers," he said, adding that the media should not take much notice of what Wattana says.Source: http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Ex-Pheu-Thai-MP-files-complaint-over-attack-by-sol-30268798.html-- The Nation 2015-09-

slipperylobster
no robbery? A good, planned attack would have included a robbery, to cover other angles. Also, an untrackable thug would of been used (with a helmet). This does not seemed well enough planned, to be linked to higher ups. Then again....who knows? Perhaps the plan worked. Remember the potato chip advert, "bet you can't eat just one". Aaahhh ramrod711. Seems you have a little problem with READING and COMPREHENSION, he reported that he was punched 3 times, and reported that he photographed the number plate of the car and it was owned by soldier. Now the PM is getting involved making comments before evidence has been gathered CCTV saying as he makes enemies' and just blames soldiers. But this is just more blind junta followers that try to justify or spin issues when it is a problem. Or do you not think that some soldiers/BIB would ever assault a person? LomSak27
Reconciliation in Action After you guys get done banging about the car, does anyone doubt this actually happened? robblok
If he was slapped under orders of the army then its a real bad thing. If its just random violence then its a normal Thai occurrence even though he is PTP and the soldier is army. Violence happens here all the time and normally something like this results in a 500bt fine But he has no proof nothing, I would not put it past him to try to get in the news to not be forgotten and get some bad press for the army. But if this was an ordered (and sanctioned) attack bye the army then, its a totally different thing and I would condemn it 100%

Gunna
no physical evidence + no witnesses = no case Show use the bruises and swelling. I was assaulted by a Thai guy and had bruising for a week. If he was punched by an Army guy, why did he stop after Only 3 blows, and usually they know Muay Thai so would have kicked him as well

Your comprehension isn't so hot at times Aussie. He said there were no witnesses. (All the others who'd been watching the match must have gone or been looking the other way then?). So we have a poor MP, standing next to his very expensive Masseratti claiming he was hit three times. No witnesses, no apparent injuries. He claims he photographed the assailant's vehicle registration plate. Now, of course, PTP MP's don't lie do they? Just like the former Pol.Lt.Col in the tycoon strange death millions transferred case. You can just believe their version of everything. Hope the Sgt, is familiar with Thai defamation law and files a complaint.

EnglishJohn
So he's accusing an alleged army soldier of using the same tactic the redshirts employ against opposition elected officials. kettle - black? Not the same at all. But of course you know that. The red cowards only intimidate their victims in groups. Or throw a firebomb at their front door as they drive past. Or shoot their AK47 as they drive past. Or leave a grenade on the gatepost when nobody is watching. Or fire an M79 at them as they drive past. Your comment is like comparing a terrorist with a playground bully. Pheu-Thai politicians are liars with no scruples or ethics. They agreed to that when they passed the interview in Dubai. Then confirmed it when not a single one voted against the amnesty bill. This guy should count himself lucky he is not in jail for abuse of power - he certainly should be. tomacht8
Is that perhaps one car from the 600 lost luxury cars from the customs office?Fully paid in cash or on credit?A typical car of the proletariat. Too bad you can not see the watch brand in the photo. Perhaps unique Swiss watchmaking? An asset inspection by the tax authorities would be appropriate.
