The TV apologist 'I'm Thaier than you faLangs' brigade; will tell you you are seeing things and that recent events in Thailand: political instability, bombings, beach murders, and a police force which couldn't find it's own arse with four hands, have had no affect on tourism and they are still flooding into the country, quoting TAT's iffy 'stats' over and over, yet few of them seem to have actually yet wandered through the usually busy streets of Pattaya, Khao San Road etc. sat in a near empty bar or restaurant, had a beer while watching the rain wet litter blowing down eerily empty streets...

Things certainly look a little grim this year.

When British Musician Mike Oldfield was asked about the 'bleak' feel to his 1998 Tubular Bells III recording, he stated that he was struck by how eerie and desolate Ibiza felt 'out of season'. Things are a bit Tubular Bells III here at the moment.

Been to Chiang Mai lately? Massive traffic everywhere, all the time, it seems. And it's the low season. I wish it were quiet.

Yep....Don't like going into town even in low season anymore.....High season is intolerable.....
