Went to Pattaya Beach today to check out the storm damage. Looks like most has been repaired (at least between WS and Central Festival). Also, not a jet ski or speedboat to be seen. Parasail barges don't seem to be in operation either.

One of the newspapers reported that the parasailing platforms had been damaged by the storm, so maybe they are out of action until they can repair them?

looks to me that it wont last much longer, all of the beach along the wall has lost at least a foot of sand, except where there are trees, and they dont look too permanent either. at this rate in the next year or so a lot of the wall will be undermined and the footpath and possibly road as well. I guess what will happen and they are already doing it is a sand bag wall just out from the wall where the umbrella people can store there stuff above high tide. looks like nature is winning this round

Looks like a boring beach to me.

(I really wish this forum had "thumbs down" or "not like" buttons.smile.png)

I've never seen Pattaya Beach looking so good.

i can see them all with binoculars out of the window and i checked what they looked like when i read that story earlier in the week. innacurate reporting.

the bay has been shut since at least wednesday.

even yesterday there were no parachutes, no ski, no speedboats no ferries to and from koh larn, no nothing.

today the parachute platforms are back in business although the chinese trade is clearly down.

there were 9 platforms but they had been reduced to 7.

i've just done a chute count and i made 23 airbourne 5 mins ago. before the bkk incident at this time of day 08.30 ish it would mostly be in the high 30's or low 40's.

the beach itself took a pounding both from flood run off and heavy waves and it looks worse close up than those photos above.

the coconut bar tile surface was also damaged in about 5/6 places the biggest hole being opposite the bars at the bottom of soi 8.

ferries back in action this morning and i can also see jet ski

It is the fecal matter that I worry about, it doesn't just all wash out to sea. I'm speaking of just the crap in the water that went from the sewers direct onto the beach; don't even consider the shit that got over flowed into the bay from the waste water treatment plants that were overwhelmed.

My suggestion is to not even breath the wind coming onshore.

yes, that water is definitely a health hazard and it should be publicized as people are swimming in it unaware that the city sewers have all just emptied into it

I take then that Dekchairs are completely gone now 24/7. Every single photograph from every single forum cannot be taken on a Wednesday !!

Amazing Thailand pics Morrobay. Thank you! I especially loved the one showing two old-growth trees that they had cut down, one with some chairs hanging on it. They simply are unable to make the connection between beach erosion and cutting down the old-growth trees. Of course, it does not help when some idiot engineer is hired by the City to do a horrible job. I wonder if the same engineer that messed up the Pattaya beachwalk area is also messing up the Jomtien beachwalk area--Jomtien's beachfront area is now like a freeway in the middle of a hot desert. The only thing that could make it worse is to install portable heaters every 10 meters to blow as much hot air as possible on anybody even thinking about walking along the area (I would say "sitting" but there is no longer any place to sit). Since nothing amazes me now, we might actually see that in Jomtien. Somebody should be fired for total incompetence.

the beach deckchairs are still there but the weather effectively closed the beach and the bay/water activity for about 3 days
