So all the British and Irish blues lovers of the 60s were onto something- the music of Brian Jones,Keith Richards,Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher, Alvin Lee, John Mayall, etc was actually a reflection of their real but unacknowledged poverty

That would mean they would actually have some personal power and wouldn't have to wait for their government to defend them from the catastrophe that's happening in Europe. Today. As we speak.

Oh wait. They are probably so afraid of their own shadows that they'd just keep hiding in their closets and wait for Americans to save them - again.

^^^ London is the financial capital of the world... cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

If we are talking real money and not funny money plus debt there could be some truth to this. After all to arrive at ones net worth one must deduct the balance owing. With all the state debts pension debt and IOU's SS short falls Obama care outstanding Tbills there could easily be over 200 TRILLION owing. This would of course have to be deducted to come up with a true figure.

Neversure is right, but it is so close (London 784 and New York 786) and the lead has only recently been taken back by NYC after some years of London dominance.

It certainly does not warrant the laughing man repeated and shows that Neversure is well-named and never does any research before firing off. Must be American, anti-Brit or a wind-up merchant!

But presumably you live in Thailand which is way poorer. Not everything in life is about money and many Americans have chosen to settle in the UK and other 'poorer' states

That or you live outside and just like trolling on here.

OK - I'll stop feeding you know.

what tosh..

If Qatar were a US state they'd be the richest by far and they'd probably buy all the women.

Only a septic would find stats like this meaningful..

Fraser Nelson's figures are wrong in any case.

Yes they were on to the music of Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, Sonny Boy Williamson, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Little Richard, Muddy Waters, etc.

They make the determination by dividing the GDP . . . which assumes that every American gets an equal share. Baloney. When you factor in (or should i say factor out) the giant salaries and bonuses American executives are pulling down and look at the scraps and bones left for division among the rest of the people, the Pommies don't have it half bad.

Well I am currently in Las Vegas and the number of vagrants and derelicts on the street is frankly depressing.

Ok the weather is better than the UK but for a world class tourist destination it is all a bit third worldy seeing all the poverty here and it doesn't exactly feel safe either.

I think Thailand is a much safer country to be in than any state in the US, and any country in the UK.

Just as long as you are not driving or riding a motorbike.

Be really careful in that town - there's areas there are are as dangerous as you'll ever stumble upon....A deadly underbelly....dark or daylight.....

Even the "big draw" places feel and look seedy anymore.....

Dangerous town......

Lot's of 7/11's though....

Probably all the Sherman tanks we have been paying the US for since WW2. They never came in until 1942. Maybe they thought they were going to loose their money.

Then the 13 colonies of North America would have never become the U.S.A., in the first place. Never mind about ALL of that,...........that is now "Gone, With The Wind", anywaycoffee1.gif
