PM Prayut unfazed by Thaksin's Hong Kong meets

"Let's play by the rules. When he [Thaksin] was in office, I never interfered,"

Fact: Thaksin was overthrown in a military coup on 19 September 2006. Prayuth was a then Maj. General who helped army chief General Sonthi Boonyaratglin seize control of the Thaksin government.

Fact: Yingluck was overthrown in a military coup in May 2014 led by army chief Prayut who then abolished the Constitution.

I fear that Prayut at best has Alzheimer's disease or a Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), aka multiple personality disorder. Such a condition would be a national concern for Thailand's security.

You might want to do some reading up!

How so? Prayut was a Major General in 2006 and was instrumental in the 2006 coup. Here, you too can do some "reading up"

Try reading up on the usual distortions presented as fact e.g was Yingluck removed by a coup? Did you miss the bit where she was previously removed by a court for abuse of power too?

Did I miss the bit where Yingluck was removed as caretaker PM by the "constitutional court"? The same "constitutional court" that nullified the March elections? How's that constitutional? The same constitutional court that became redundant immediately after the coup when the constitution was binned by the Junta following the illegal coup? Nope. Didn't miss that bit.

Will also help Elviajero to read up on Prayuth's involvement in setting up the Ahbisit government in the army barrack. He is clueless or just in denial.

Is there a mechanism on this thread for electing a Queen of Denial. There are three candidates.

Will you, Srikcir, LannaGuy read up on Yingluck and Thaksin and stop pretending.

Lying that they were removed in a coup by armed force sounds much better than being removed by a court or resigning to to public outcry and protest for cheating.

He's not clueless nor does he deny Prayut's involvement in army led coups. He does though spot the Shin PR lies.

Baerboxer, the problem is that people like these are so caught up in the emotion of the subject that reality and fact are lost.

As usual when someone points out errors in their factual claims they immediately start introducing other unconnected events to try and justify their inaccuracies. The coup in 2006 suddenly is connected to the perfectly legal adjustment to government that happened in 2008 and led to the Abhisit led coalition. Of course the fact that Prayuth may have been involved in twisting a few arms during those back room deals will be lambasted, when at the same the back room, arm twisting, brown envelope passing, deals conducted by the PTP in forming the 2011 coalition, to prop up their weak majority, would be no doubt be perfectly acceptable.

He also missed the bit that Thaksin resigned as PM.

I love the bit about letting the people decide if he is doing a good job!

The one element in the whole Thai political equation who were emphatically not consulted when he took the job (took literally), whose views on him cannot be expressed, and who have no real expectations of being consulted over, let alone deciding when he leaves the job, or indeed as to who replaces him. Classic!
