I am sure I will see him at Plaza Anthenee this week for the Sunday brunch as I travel through to go back to work. It seems to be the standard procedure for US ambassadors on a Sunday.

Lets see if he does a few "selfies" of himself there like the previous ambassador did every second day.

Nope...He didn't make the 200 metre trip from his residence to the Plaza this Sunday.

Must still be busy plotting the USA take over of Thailand!! Democratically of course. 555

That's it. You keep talking amongst yourself and let the adults continue...

As this person seems to be an East Asian specialist, this appointment appears to be a ceremonial retirement gift. Once upon a time the ambassadorship to Thailand was seen as a stepping stone for rising stars in the Foreign Service.

This appointment seems very thoughtful and perfect. At this time what is needed is a career diplomat, Asian military regime expert, in the autumn of his career, not some hello kitty cheerleader or some rich retired businessman donor as a capstone for his career.

But true, I don't see Thailand returning to the level of importance for America it occupied in the past, so no need for rising stars.

I believe that's how we got Hawaii.

(Democratically, of course)
