Hey all,

I have am in Bangkok with my lad for a few days, and we have no formal wear with us packed (my suit is at home 400km away NE Th) yet we have been invited to a wedding last minute tomorow evening which I would love to go to...

Question is, does anyone know a good place for me to pick up either a suit, or just trousers and a shirt for both me and my 8 month old lad?

I want cheap as it will only be used tomorow and my lad will grow out ofit in a month... I have seen one shop offering 2 suits for 199 dollars but as this is bassicly going to be worn the once I was hoping to get somewhere cheaper, obviously I cannot expect a taylored fit or anything,... I guess a primark/asda type shop is what I am after (uk lot will understand)

Bit last minute but dont think the bride and groom will appreciate me and my lad turning up in our jeans, more so me as he can get away with it having a cute face heh,

Cheers all in advance

For you... You should be able to pick up a suit at a department store... i.e. Emporium, Central Chid Lom etc...

For your little lad... shorts and a shirt would be fine (with some kids shoes).

My Wife, Son and I have been to numerous weddings held at top Bangkok hotels. My Wife wears a cocktail dress, I wear suit and tie, my son wears either Shorts (Grey) or grey or beige trousers and a White or Blue cotton or linen shirt.

Best bet to find everything quickly would probably be Central Chid Lom... But I'm not sure could get a reasonable suit for $7000 baht ($200) or less.

Thanks Richard, I will go check out Central Chid Lom, honestly without sounding like a cheap ass I was hoping for under 100 dollars as I do have an 600 pound fitted suit at home so after tomorow this will not be worn again... point taken with my lads clothing, I guess I secretly wanted to see him suited up though heh but your right probably best in shorts and a shirt, cheers mate

I have not worn a suit/tie since in Germany in the mid 60's - Thai dress silk or safari type shirt and pressed trousers should be fine anywhere.

This has been discussed before on this forum with many responses...

It depends on the venue... I've been to a number of weddings where had I not been wearing a suit and tie I'd have felt incredibly under dressed.

That said - If the Op isn't too worried what other people will think of him he can 'get by' with trousers and a smart shirt - However, the Op needs to make that choice himself as only he knows the venue and his status in the proceedings and that of the wedding family etc...

Suit rental is a good idea... Op could try the tailors on Sukhumvit to see if they rent out suits.

Cheers all,

Ended up slipping down to that clothing mall and grabbing a few shirts/shoes etc, all under 2000 bhat!

Funny thing was the taxi took us the wrong way plus it was raining/rush hour so by the time we had got there the wedding had nearly finished

Thanks
