BANGKOK: -- Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva is optimistic that the new Constitution Drafting Committee headed by Mr Meechai Ruchupan will come up with a draft charter which will be more acceptable and responsive to the people’s aspirations.

He said he was not surprised with the list of the 21 CDC members as all of them were well versed in legal matters and, in particular, Mr Meechai, for setting out clearly the five frameworks that the draft charter will have to follow.

For instances, the framework regarding principles which are universally accepted and the frameworks regarding corruption and referendum, said Mr Abhisit, adding that if the draft was written in accordance with the set frameworks as promised by Mr Meechai, then it would be a healthy sign.

Asked whether the CDC should invite political parties to share their opinions on the draft charter, the Democrat party leader pointed out that there are now different channels for stakeholders to express their views and he was not concerned about this issue.

Meanwhile Mr Aekanat Promphan of the PDRC Foundation said he would like to thank CDC members for accepting the challenge to draft a new charter. He said he was optimistic that the CDC would come up with a draft charter which is suitable for the Thai society.

will be more acceptable and responsive to the people’s aspirations.

what people? more acceptable to who? Mark now knows, are failing EVER to win an election, the 'people's aspirations' looor

speak for yourself puppet not the electorate who lost their basic rights while you were out blowing your whistle then sat idly by the day democracy died and you didn't even give a 'whimper' of protest

No neck tie, unshaven, dear, dear, dear. Out last night Mark? Still his hair is quoffed immaculately. One out of three will have to do.

Democrats and PDRC go together like clamydia and gonorrhea: similar parasite, same effect.

The "old" CDC rolled a turd on their own with the NCPO driving the car.

The "new" CDC will roll a turd on their own with the NCPO driving the car.

Thailand will get a new turd with the same old bad smell...

So if the PDRC is optimistic about the CDC......

The PDRC trying to legitimize a democratic charter is like Stalin working for the Red Cross.

A truly good sign in that it seems that the 'populist vote buying policies' avenue will have been scuppered which will stop the PTP in their tracks from buying the votes of the gullible!!!

This does seem to be one of the 5 pillars of the charter re-write and bodes well for the future for when fair elections can be held once the flawed electoral system has been fixed!!

As long as the Dems and PDRC are happy that's all that matters.

As long as the Dems and PDRC are happy that's all that matters.

Yes!! I am, in fact I'm extremely optimistic about Thailand's future governance now.

Abhisit is ready to join the ranks of democratic soldiers!

Lead on General Prayut.
