Missile fragments found in bodies of victims

THE HAGUE: -- Shrapnel from a Buk missile was found in the bodies of victims from the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash, according to a Ukrainian investigator that was formerly part of the international team researching the cause of the disaster.

The revelation comes just one week before the Dutch Safety Board releases their final report on the July 2014 Boeing 777 crash in eastern Ukraine.

Vasyl Vovk worked on the case for nearly a year, up to June 19, the Joint Investigative Team confirmed to broadcaster NOS, but it criticized Vovk for not exercising caution with his statements, reported nltimes online.

He was among Dutch, Australian and Ukrainian experts that pulled apart multiple samples of Buk missiles to determine if the forensic evidence found with the plane wreckage and in the bodies matched the material used to make the weapons.

Vovk said the fragments were consistent with a match, and that they were handed over to specialised experts for comparative analysis.

"Nobody disputes that the Malaysia Airlines plane was shot down by a Buk missile from a Buk system, which was delivered from Russian Federation territory. And then after the crime, in that same territory, there was a block with the help of terrorist fighters," he said, referring to the Ukrainian separatists.

Vovk did not directly say who shot the plane down, but he did say that he finds it hard to believe that soldiers would have launched the missile without any orders from higher authorities.

"The Russian Minister of Defense must have known about it," he added.

The JIT does not deny the volume of evidence seemingly indicating that a Buk missile brought down the plane. "But however much is pointing in one direction, we can not exclude [researching] other scenarios," the JIT wrote in a statement.

The Dutch Public Prosecutor previously revealed that there was evidence the plane was brought down by a Buk missile strike, and called on people in the Ukraine to come forward with any testimony or evidence about the launch.

The plane was carrying 283 passengers and 15 crew members when it left Amsterdam on July 17. It was flying over a conflict zone in Ukraine when it fell from the sky on its way to Kuala Lumpur, killing everyone on the aircraft.

Somehow, I don't. But maybe that's just me. If they had a blanket order to shoot down Ukrainian military aircraft, which they had been doing, maybe they weren't giving aircraft the benefit of the doubt that (or any) day.

This is a BS Ukrainian propaganda.

Who is this "Ukrainian investigator" to be authorized to make such a statement?

Only the official report from the Dutch authorities may be referred to.

Yes, the Buk missile systems were in fact deployed in that area controlled by the Ukraine Army.

Those Buk missile systems belonged to the Ukraine Army, not the rebels.

There is enough evidence of that fact.

The MH17 might have been shot down by mistake by the Ukraine Army itself.

The Ukrainian Army is notorious for making such terrible mistakes in the past.

This case is more than a year old, and the investigations done, the data from the black box recovered. But we still have no official report, which could have made public months ago, including evidences, like samples from the material of the device, which brought the plane down. And as long there is no report available from the Dutch committee, I'd rather believe, that the MH 17 was shot down by an Ukrainian fighter.

I am not being apologetic for Russians.

I can see that Buk system downed the plane.

No concrete evidence against Russia so far. Ukraine also has Buk installations.

International Investigative body must have included Russian and Ukrainian specialists.

Comparison of this disaster with Syria is not only off topic but either cynicism, stupidity or typical americanizm.

Russians are ruthless, check. Russians are not Politically Correct, check. Russians are not stupid, check.

And downing a civilian plane on its normal route is , was and cannot be in Russians interests. Motive???

You may call Putin a thief, a KGB officer, a dictator, - but usually he is a formal stickler for Legality or a semblance of it.

I am prepared to accept this on a face value. I trust it is not a fake. But where is the arrow pointing at Moscow?

Who are these characters talking? Russians? Ukrainians? Are they talking to Russian command?

I hope those specialist Investigators have this too.

This was released right after the incident. The people having the conversation are the pro Russian separatists. The leader of the separatist movement of that time acknowledged on his "VK" webpage that his forces shot the plane by mistake thinking it was an Ukrainian plane. When they realized it was a passenger plane all the statements and the released information was deleted.

Later Russian mass media came with a zillion ridiculous theories about why the plane crashed in order to confuse the public.

This is nothing more than a pure speculation without any proof. The Ukrainian propaganda.

There are audio recordings from Russian backed separatists that sound like oh shit it was a civilian plane oh shit there are dead bodies everywhere. They shot it down because they were drinking vodka and messing around. It was a horrible mistake same as US bombing hospital in Afghan this week. Nobody would do that intentionally.
