No one respects the RTP. They never have and never will be respected it seems.

Thais respecting other Thai would be a start in Thailand

Another fine example of the degeneration of Phuket and Thailand in general.

Come on T.A.T. how are you going to spin this one ?

Perhaps the authorities should tell the police that they ( thepolice) might be better employed in arresting the and curtailing the drug dealers activities as opposed to pulling in celebrities for posing in images involving alcohol?

.Both suspects died in the crash. At the scene, police found fifty ya ba (methamphetamine) pills.

Officers and military personnel have regained control of the situation and are currently negotiating with members of the mob, which was led by relatives of the deceased.

Well that's two less pieces of trash less to worry about . Play nasty games get a nasty response.

Perhaps the rioting is also caused by the fact the public doesn't trust them. Could have been planted drugs? Wouldn't be the first time it's happened....

Sadly though the Police probably "control" the Yaba supply

Perhaps if the Royal Thai 'Police' wasn't just a revenue generating corrupt mafia with it's tentacles in every aspect of society and politics that is directly responsible for much of Thai societies problems then people wouldn't dislike them so much.

Can't have been that much of a disturbance if neither The Nation or Bangkok Post feel it worthy of coverage........

How about policing the situation.

Police officers work in partnership with the communities they serve to maintain law and order, protect members of the public and their property, prevent crime, reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of life for all citizens. Not a policeman woman in sight. Of course the protesters are going to run riot, because they know they can, and there are going to be no consequence for there actions. Amazing Thailand.

I watched it live on Thai TV last night (was looking for some international footy matches). Saw the Molotov cocktails flying thru the air, the large mob, burning cars. This was no small protest. Maybe Nation and Post afraid to cover because might damage Thailand's image?

Family members of two drug dealers who found with drugs on them, albeit dead. So they attack a police station, burn vehicles and cause chaos?

Sounds like the local equivalent of the Al Capone family and a family that knows exactly what its members are up to and are capable of. The cops have ideal reason for taking all of the 60 members of this violent drug dealing clan off of the streets.

What is going on, do not any of you realize what has happened here? Police drove into these 2 kids with their car effectively using it to kill them! The police should not be allowed to get away with outright murder, so sad to see this on a Sunday morning!

A small flavor of what was happening a decade ago during the so called War on Drugs in Thailand. Police were authorized to use deadly force and over 2000 people ended up dead as a result.

Did you consider that these guys were fleeing and might have simply lost control?

Rioters vandalize cars, attack police officers in retaliation for teen deaths

PHUKET: A number of police officers have been hospitalized while a total of 21 vehicles were vandalized by angry rioters last night who had encircled the Thalang Police Station in retaliation for the death of two teenagers yesterday.

The protest and ensuing riot follows a police chase that ended in the death of two teens midday on Saturday.

As the protest began to gain momentum yesterday afternoon, both the Phuket governor and police chief were dispatched to the scene in hopes of quelling the escalating situation. (story here)

But their attempts to were no avail as the crowd and tensions only grew into the night.

By 7pm, The Phuket News' corespondent was trapped on the third floor of the police station with other officers as an angry mob outside proceded to vandalize the police station and police vehicles parked outside.

Rioters threw bottles, bricks, rocks, and proceeded to scorch vehicles using molitel cocktails and fireworks.

By 8.41pm, the mob threatened to burn down the police station, as police called for backup.

In the proceding chaos, windows were broken, and a total of 21 cars were damaged, including nine police cars that had been completely scorched.

Seems as though the locals are acting like ''Animals''.., which is not really a suprise, giving the general ''IQ'' .....

What they are doing won't bring justice, if the Kids sped away , they must of for a reason..

Those "animals" might have saved up anger over years of extortions and injustice.

The kids indeed sped away for a reason - but we don't know what reason.

PS Thais do not lack in IQ, as there are no differences in IQ between races.

EQ, emotional intelligence, now that is a different story - EQ is determined by education and culture.

Actually you're incorrect. Study after study has found that the general IQ of Thais is lower compared to people in other countries. It's not a racial, but cultural and crap education. After every new poor showing in national IQ studies, the government promises some type of new scheme to smarten the kids here.

If you break the Law, (1) Speeding, (2) Failing to Stop, maybe no helmet. Perhaps after they search them and motobike they nwill find the real reason for not stopping.

As for the rioting, They watch a little US TV about Ferguson and Baltimore, These Thai's learn fast.

Yes, I sorry they died !! If you play with the Devil you can expect to pay the price !!

This was not a protest, this was a riot.

I hope this governor is made of different material than the previous one, and does not give in to this mob behaviour.

Maybe they could hire some PR people from the NRA in the US. They seem to always have snappy spins to put on the weekly school shootings.

For that matter, community riots against police brutality are fairly common in farangland too so this might make farang tourists feel more at home.

Another source says "The motorbike lost control and slammed head on into another oncoming patrol car near the entrance of Tonsai Waterfall Rd."

So what really happened?

Is there any proof of what happened?

"Proof" - not hearsay.

Just a pity the haze is gone to make not only the farang but also the Chinese feel at home.

Absolutely right! It was excessive force in the extreme. Not even close to proportional to the crime being committed.

Not so unusual for thais to do uturns on bikes and doing a runner from the police control blocks in fear of extortion and crimes commited by the bib , nobody respects the rtp nor have they attempted to earn any.

It was the "kids" (come on, one was 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!) decision to run for it, speed and pay the price. Apologists putting in a good word for criminals sicken me! sick.gif

You're not any better than those psychologist idiots who sign papers that a former rapist and child murderer is "fit to reenter society" whilst the first thing he'll do is to rape and kill yet another child.
