Dutch probe: Buk missile downed Malaysian jet in Ukraine

GILZE-RIJEN AIR BASE, Netherlands (AP) — The missile shot skyward from war-ravaged eastern Ukraine. With deadly accuracy more than six miles up, it detonated just in front of the Malaysia Airlines jetliner, sending hundreds of jagged steel shards ripping through its aluminum skin at up to 5,600 mph and shearing the cockpit from the rest of the plane.

Residents panic over soil subsidence in Pathum Thani

Financial assistance to relieve troubles of fishermen from fishing ban

Smartphone users can get help via 'Police i lert u' app

BANGKOK, 14 October 2015 (NNT) - Smartphone users are urged to download a police application that can notify authorities quickly in the event of a crisis.


The Metropolitan Police Bureau and the private sector have jointly developed the smartphone application ‘Police i lert u,’ which they claimed would allow the police to reach the scene promptly.

The application sends information regarding a location of the sender and images of the crime scene via a GPS system to the nearest police station.

Chinese vegetarian festival starts in Thailand

Phichit officials inspect motorcycle taxi stands

PHICHIT, 14 October 2015 (NNT) – Provincial transport and security officials have jointly visited motorcycle taxi stands in different districts in Phichit Province.


The objectives of the visit were to observe the pricing of motorcycle taxi services and to see whether there were law-breaking people who used private motorcycle as passenger vehicles. Target areas were in six districts, namely Muang, Sak Lek, Wang Sai Phun, Tub Klor, Dong Charoen and Taphan Hin.

During their visit, authorities instructed motorcycle taxi operators to comply with traffic rules at all times and to show service rates to passengers. Meanwhile, the operators agreed to strictly follow authorities’ directives.

RID meets on water resources development

NAN, 14 October 2015, (NNT) - The Department of Royal Irrigation held a meeting on the development of water resources at Rai Juthamat resort in Nan province.


The Tuesday meeting's top agenda include the advantages and disadvantages from the construction of Nam Kon reservoir and irrigation system in the northern region.

The department on March 20th this year hired Mahanakorn Consultants Co. Ltd., ASDECON Corporation Co. Ltd., Inter Tech Consultants Co. Ltd. and Thai Consultants Engineering Co. Ltd. to conduct 540-day feasibility study on the project. The study contract will conclude on September 9th 2016.

The head of the study team indicated that the projects would greatly benefit roughly 50,000 rai of local farmland and added farmers in the area have welcomed the new reservoir. They said the dam would mitigate both drought and floods issues.

PHUKET: -- The five Phuket security staff caught on video viciously beating two Australian tourists have kept their jobs, and the nightclub where they work on Bangla Rd, Patong, has been ordered closed for just one week over the incident.
