Germany tightens rules for asylum seekers

BERLIN: -- German lawmakers have approved new measures to tackle Europe’s refugee crisis.

The list of countries Germany deems “safe” will be widened to include Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro, whose citizens will generally have no chance of being granted asylum.

That will allow Germany to focus on refugees fleeing war zones such as Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel told Germany’s parliament that working with Turkey is key to solving the crisis, including providing humanitarian aid, helping to secure borders and combating people trafficking.

“Most war refugees who come to Europe travel via Turkey. We won’t be able to order and stem the refugee movement without working together with Turkey,” Merkel said.

Asylum seekers will have to stay longer in reception centres while their requests are processed:from three months to six months.

During this period, the are generally entitled to lower benefits. In addition, the new legislation provides for a switch from cash benefits to payments in kind “as far as possible” for those waiting in reception centres.

Human rights groups Amnesty International and Pro Asyl criticised the approved measures, saying the new measures put too much emphasis on deterrence and exclusion.

Too little, too late.

They should have been working with Turkey from the start and a certain person should have kept her mouth shut.

Has Amnesty International been taken over by the bleeding hearts? Used to be they helped individual persons in trouble, not get involved in illegal economic migration.

What's Ankela going to do when those already in the country and those trying to get in decide to protest against any new measures ?

It's going to get nasty and so far all she's doing is still insisting that the rest of the EU bail her out.

Interestingly the BBC reported yesterday that although there's a groundswell of opinion against her for inviting everyone she's still given credit for economic success so she's not completely out. i suspect the word YET should have been used because when the migrants get upset ... !

The case of shutting the barn's doors after the horses has bolted already, you have hundreds of thousands of questionable ' refugee ' in your midst, and almost all undocumented, how do you propose to go about it, do propose a ' selection ' method to bring back bad memories of earlier selection processes? are you going to deny those already in from uniting, in time, with their loved ones?

Germany, what ever you will do, you're doomed not to learn from past mistakes, and now, with

this fifth column among you, your future is pretty bleak....

how intolerant this is!

Where is your compassion!

EU should show how multicultural it is - force Germany to remove these restrictions!

Dear Europeans, you tried to teach other nations how to treat refugees. now it's time for you to show it on your own example!

Too little too late. This is not going to get resolved without some very ugly and violent scenes.

Its nigh on impossible to uproot hundreds of thousands of young men from their new fiefdom / sanctuary.

The smiles are fading after less than 2 months and Merkel is scrambling. Based on the behaviour of many a lot of European nations are going to resist taking in huge quotas now.

The lack of foresight from arguably the world's most powerful woman is truly despicable.

it's hard to confess yourself that you were wrong for so many years. and your opponents was right.

Merkel is a hostage of left-liberal political values which she declared before. for Merkel future of her own country appears less important than her own political future..

for so many years she tried to impose her own left-liberal political agenda to other countries. now it's time to pay back.

looks very fair for me!

Some people may find this disappointing, but Germany will not collapse. It will cost a lot of money (again), certain problems will arise but in the end Germany will manage and solve this crisis. But the refugee pressure will continue with or without Merkel's "welcome". And then it will be interesting to see how other European countries will position themselves. Some nations already showed that they see the EU as an ATM and nothing else. At a certain point even Germany will be overwhelmed, not this time, though.

Germany will collapse but not now, of course. for Roman Empire it took generations to fall. now history passes faster.

those "refugees" need some time to feel themselves at home in Germany and start to fight for Sharia law.

They will raise many kids ("The wombs of our women will give us victory.") on German taxpayer's expense, do whatever it takes to relocate all there relatives to Germany. They will get some representatives in Bundestag - thy will cry like crazy about "anti-Muslim German regime oppressing peaceful Muslims"

Germans will pretend like nothing happens, hide crime statistic until one day Muslims will say

come on, we are already a majority there! so now we will tell you how to live, what to believe into, what to wear, what top eat etc.

and no one in the world will raise voice in support of German minority on Germany.

do you know why?

because they fully deserved everything they got and will get in the future.

karma is a bitch, as some TVF members like to say

Sorry (am I?), not gonna happen. It would take some time to turn a nation of 80 Mio. people into a minority. And Germany is not sitting idle. I would not say that I am not concerned, as many are right now, but the first measures are in place. Other EU member states will be convinced that they have to show solidarity (one of the saddest sentences I haver ever said) and there will be a European solution. That is the bright side: a crisis forces the EU to reform and to develop. And for those who think they can make it on their own without the European Union: good luck with that.

Just out of curiosity: with this "fully deserved", do you actually hope for Germany to fall?

yes, I honestly wish for Germans to eat all that leftist ideological mess which they created together with there master on the other side of the ocean.

Germany will not disappear, may be it will even save it's present name - Islamic Caliphate of Germany - sounds nice!

how those wonderful "measures" will close the borders for illegal crossings? how will you get rid of those who entered already and now want to bring there families? (and Arab families are biiiiig!) and there children will find wifes in the Middle east ( girls under European influence are spoiled!). and guess what, their wifes will bring there own families!

the only thing which can really protect borders from illegal crossing are anti-personnel mines but EU signed AP-mines ban convention

bad luck

lol

Good bye, Germany!

somnamna!

millions of those killed in WWII will be avenged. better late than never

That water between won't safe you.....Europe wakes up, or Europe goes down. I doubt one country can single itself out.

I hope for Le Pen in France, that might shake up things.

Merkel sure screwed Germany with her big dumb mouth , they will be paying for this for ever what an idiot she is .

some big dumb mouths seem to have no idea that the "right on asylum" (subject to certain conditions) is an integral part of the German constitution.

But not the right on asylum, for just everyone from South Africa to Myanmar. Most come to Thailand for economical reason. And Germany, last time I checked, had no common border with Syria. There are many safe countries between Germany and Syria.

While some of the real refugees are Christian or moderate Muslims, there are plenty of very conservative Muslims who would integrate a lot better in a other Muslim controlled country.

I am happy that Germany has, with its "constitution", volunteered to accept all comers. That ,of course includes "refugees", economic migrates, criminals and terrorists.

The link provides insight into what Germans have welcomed into their country.

It will get worse.
