PM Gen Prayut says Thailand is currently in the second stage of the roadmap


BANGKOK, 17 October 2015 (NNT)-Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is also head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), said Thailand is currently in the second stage of the roadmap to democracy as the constitution is being drafted to solve conflicts and create stability in the country.


During the weekly televised broadcast of “Return Happiness to the People”, the Prime Minister said the country is in the process of drafting a constitution in line with the framework laid down by the Charter Drafting Committee (CDC) chairman. The charter, he said, would meet international standards and solve accumulated problems of the country.


The Prime Minister went on to say that the charter would bring sustainable stability and prosperity to the Thai society as the reform to take place under the new constitution will cover all dimensions of development and be implemented under a 20-year-long strategy.


The Prime Minister also stressed on the importance of correct communication and accuracy in the work of the five main bodies consisting of the NCPO, the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), the CDC, the Cabinet and the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA). It was essential that they must have understanding towards each other and jointly lay down their targets and roles so that their coordination will be smooth and fruitful, said Gen Prayut.

we are now designing and placing the roundabouts and U-turns necessary to deal with the numerous potholes having appeared out of nowhere. Because the roadmap is strictly a one-way street we can't use any counter flow lanes, because they don't exist.

When will the reconciliation process really begin if Thailand is now in the second of its three-stage roadmap?

The PM is speaking the right language, but the reality tells a different story at this time.

I would have thought that reconciliation is mandatory if the PM is truly serious about all Thais contributing to the work of CDC Mark II.

If people are disenfranchised, how can they possibly accept a Constitution that they did not help create?

So, keep moving forward! But, please speed up the pace, or mid-2017 will come, and the destination will still not be reached!

Well so much for not commenting to the media as often , we now see the renamed P.M. Gen Prayut , that should read P.M. Ret Gen Prayut, appearing on that award winning soap opera " Bringing back happiness to Thailand " in a ratings war it could be described as a trashy type of programme and not recommended for adults or children, better to watch Blow err Dance your fat off.coffee1.gif

Could of fooled me, it seems we are still stalled at stage zero!

Will the people so meekly accept the next reboot after another charter gets tossed out in 10 months time?

Methinks there'll be a new PM or a bloodbath (or most likely both) within 12 months from now.

no affense Mr. P/M General prayut but you have no concept of what goes on in your country or what your people need.

you came from being a General; if you needed something from 7-11 you either sent someone or took a motorcade of many cars and motorbikes to where you were going. have you ever traveled by bus, mrt, motorcycle taxi, car taxi(been refused), boat, bts?? you are always driven where ever you need to go. it is really sad how much you do not see. the only thing you seem to care about is how many tourist come to Thailand and how much money they spend. you will never be able to end corruption or graft in the country. try riding the buses in Bangkok with out an entourage. see what the REAL people go through.

Road map ? Second stage ? Where is the progress ? Where is the compensation to the Thai people for having their elected government opposed ? Just talk.

Using an extinct road map as a metaphor in the age of GPS apps shows how out of touch the grumpy little man is. Not to mention that his road map doesn't appear to show his "must see" attractions, viz., press censors, detention and attitude adjustment centers, election non-commission, human trafficking jams, economic ruins, etc.

Well they can write a new charter

Every PM makes there own final decisions and nothing can alter this. It's a civilised government leader.

This takes time to repair damage but personally I would have liked to see the bread and butter stuff addresses like murders falsely accused and charged. All that police business and so on

This is grass roots stuff

Well some beaches have been cleaned, some road stalls have been moved on, a few land encroachers/corrupt officials have been taken down

Ahhh but the BIG ISSUE........dek van have been curtailed..........

Nothing has been resolved between the 2 factions, that I am aware of.

Yes its movement but not even baby steps, more like microbe movement

Stage 1. Make the country the laughing stock of Asia. Sucess

Stage 2. Blame it on previous democratic governments. In progress

Stage 3. Return the country to the same as 2007, 1997, .....1930

Stage 4. Increase military budget and finally purchase us some submarines to play with.

As with practically every other map I've seen in Thailand, this one too leads nowhere.

What the hell was the 1st stage? throttle the media? Ban freedom of speech? Adjust peoples attitudes? Please tell me.

The first part would be pretty easy, given that the DPRK is a member of the UN.

The second part sounds slightly more ambitious.
