Where can I take my dog in Pattaya to socialise with other dogs?

Anyone know of a place where resposible pet owners get together so their dogs can socialise? My dog is a 12 month old Schitzu cross that sleeps too much and needs some stimulation, like interaction with other dogs. Obviously somewhere safe, out of reach of the rabid, scurvy soi dogs.

Thanks mods, you may as well close this post down, it's pretty obvious that only the drunks and the mentally challenged are going to respond.

Unfortunately I believe you are asking for something that does not exist outside of a dog training centre for which you would pay mucho dinero sad.png

There are places where there are limited nos. of soi dogs and some who are even quite friendly with other dogs. We have found some at Mabrachan - close to Soi Siam around the lake and a couple of other spots but that may just be because we have big dogs so not so much of an issue.

Have you tried various beaches?

Whenever I've used the walking/running trail on Khao Pratumnak there have been some people who have their dogs with them and every morning I see people with their dogs walking along Pattaya beach front.

Most places you go will have some street dogs about that could be a problem, but in those two places it doesn't seem to be a big issue.

One of the reasons I have kept my dog for almost 14 years is that I only let her around dogs I know. Ones that have been taken care of and had shots. Dogs pass viruses just like humans. Buddy brought his dog over....took weeks to get rid of the ear mites.

As a matter of interest, what did you use to get rid of the mites?

We take him down Jomtien beach regularly and sit in deckchairs. Have to keep a close eye though, even though we keep him on a lead there's always a few bruisers loitering that want to defend their territory.

There is a relative safe zone (last checked July 2015) North of the Soi 16 Wong Amat entrance:

Thanks, but that's a little off the beaten track for me as I live on the dark side.

Mirabel is dog friendly and quite a nice place to enjoy a couple of beers. Food and drink are a little on the pricey side, but what the hell you only live once right, unless you are Buddhist that is. Only a couple of Beagles there who didn't show any interest in my dog, but will probably go again just for the ambience.

There are lots of stray dogs/cats on the jogging trails on the Big Buddha hill side of the hill, so beware, but people do go on walks with their dogs in leash there too

Get another dog. I've always have had two or three pets, when I've kept pets. Having just one pet is just asking to have a maladjusted pet. Dogs and cats need to socialize. Dog parks? I've never really like them because there is always 'alpha' dogs in the mix, and then you have to get in the middle of the fray. Then the next thing you know, the dog owners are having it out.

My dogs socialize together at home, and get to be alpha dogs in their own territory which is bounded by a wall and gate. My dog do not roam. They have about 2/3 of a rai of their own. Unlike my Thai neighbors, I consider that to be being a responsible pet owner. I'll hold on to that part of my Western culture. Our immediate Thai neighbors next door do the same. How un-Thai. Good people. All other dogs in the neighborhood roam. We've had four killed withing 50 meters of our house on the narrow road passing our house. Thai driving 60 to 80+ kph on a road where the top speed should be maybe 40 kph. Just another reason my dogs don't roam.

Glad you were able to find a place. Yeah, you'd only have a problem if your pet was a raccoon. Lol rolleyes.gif

Be very careful! My adopted beach dog - who was a tough alpha male, was killed by a wild pack.

That's why I asked for somewhere safe, out of reach for soi dogs.

I think your reply here was rather unkind to the poster (combined with your following remarks to the mods.about closing down the thread) I thought "hyku1147" was simply pointing out what happened to him and the loss of his good friend and wouldn't wish the same to happen to anyone else. He need not have bothered to reply at all, but it lookes to me like he cares about things like this.

Not at all. I was acknowledging the danger by saying I wanted somewhere safe, nowhere near the soi dogs. In fact that's what this post is all about, something I wouldn't think needs an explanation. I requested the post be closed because I could see where it was headed.

No such park exists.

If your dog was not socialized before, it would not be wise to let it play with other dogs, unless you are experienced and so are other owners.

For the sake of your dog, take it for daily walks, twice a day better.

Plenty of grass areas where it can run free.

However note many of those grass areas, have locals with tents and chickens so make sure to check out the area first.

Last month, these f....ing chickens have cost me almost 20 000 baht. All fighting chickens, so 5000 per head.

I am happy to try to meet up with you and my gang of 6, however do expect initially a few scraps between them before they get to know each other and settle in.

I have already mentioned that he gets walked twice a day. Tell me a grassed area where he can run free and is also soi dog free. In my area I can't think of one place where there aren't packs of soi dogs. However, the place I went today, Mirabel, is probably as good as any. You are allowed to swim your dog there as well, if you're so inclined.

Pattaya Tai, opposite PinkyJimmy shop

Sukhumvit road, near big c, not so hard to drive and look left/right to see grass and open areas

Then go for a walk to see if any dogs or people inside.

Theaparsit soi 5 and 7

List goes on

Mirbel is more of a dog hotel than a dog park

But you clearly know all as usual, so best of luckthumbsup.gif

All these areas you mentioned, how do they manage to keep the soi dogs out? AFAIK these are all open areas. There are grassed areas near where I live, and although there may not be any soi dogs when you arrive, they seem to materialise out of nowhere. Mirabel is a resort that does allow guests to bring dogs, it's not compulsory, and as I said there were only two dogs there today that an outsider brought in to have a swim and a bit of a frolic, then he took them home. I waasn't being a know-all, I just don't think the areas you mentioned are what I'm looking for.

Mate, its not Australia with designated dog park areas, You make the most of what you have.

There are so dogs everywhere, however some soi dogs live among people so are more friendly and less likely to attack, it also depends on the time of the day, as often soi dogs sleep and do not bother to come out.

No, these are not cut grass nicely kept parks or gardens but either empty lots with tall grass and rubbish dumps or empty spaces with construction taking place.

As i said, you make the most of what you got.

I keep my dogs up to date with vaccinations and worming, as i mentioned, not too long ago, it cost me 20K for the fighting chickens.

The other day, big pup cut his paw on broken glass, today he cut another paw.

There are no alternatives if you want for your dog to run free.

Most soi dogs i came across, did not have a problem with my pack, but my pack consists of 6 dogs, 2 are pitbulls,it might be the reason, but in 8 years, my pack never had a fight with soi dogs. They had arguments but nothing major

As i said, MIrabel is a dog hotel, while you can bring your dog there, its hardly a park, but might be best option for you.

Personally, i do not have the time nor desire to drive 1 hour if not more if traffic twice a day to have little play area.

My gang needs space, as they run around like mad cows for 10-15 mins and then happy to go home sleep.

It would be AWESOME to have a proper park with dog designated area, but it will not happen, unless someone opens one up privately, in which case it would be pay per visit and most likely out of business very fast
