Hi

I am currently looking to get married to a Thai lady. I received my decree absolute from my marriage in the UK. However it is a copy as my solicitor say that the court keeps the original. The British Consulate state that without the original, I need a letter from the court. My Thai colleagues are amazed that there is no official stamp on such an important document.

I just wonder if anyone else has encountered this problem and if so, do they have any advice.

You should have a document that looks similar to the attached file.

It should have a stamp (and can also be embossed) from the Principal Registry of the Family Division of the High Court of Justice.

I have not seen a Decree Absolute without such a stamp.
