PHUKET: -- The commander of Police Region 8 has announced that the island’s security will be increased for the coming high season and has requested that businesses around the island also increase there own security to ensure tourists are as safe as possible at all times.

Pol Lt General Tesa Siriwato told The Phuket News today, “Tourists need to feel safe while they visit our country and it is our job to assist and provide security for them. Phuket is a tourism island so maximum security is always needed.

“We will have more officers on the streets to monitor and check on tourist. In addition to the usual patrol units, we will also have foot patrol units along the beaches and cycle patrol units in residential areas,” he said.

“We have told all entertainment venues, hotels and resorts that they should install CCTV cameras to cover all areas of their businesses, and that if their CCTVs are damaged or old they should be repaired or upgraded to be the best quality.

“We will also continue with our ongoing anti-drug and -crime campaign with the crime suppression units,” he added.

yes 100 more bouncers have been hired. they are from the local football team.

they have prior experience kicking footballs so easy to learn to kick tourists heads in.

the white room bouncers have been hired to train the new "security" guards.

there is no substitute for experience.

and more cameras to catch the action.

The RTP know the trouble makers by first name as well as their (police) coworkers in cohots with them. Send the whole bunch to the middle of the most inaccessiable part of the island for a 3 month retreat with what honest Monks they can locate for the high season??? if it happens.

Just make sure the head man who has allowed this cesspool to operate is first in line on the long walk to purgorty and maybe they will earn attaboys for their next existance, if that is even probably, believable.

Haha wot high season, Ghost Town in Pattaya. An high season is almost upon us.

As the Phuket economy contracts, crime will increase.

There will be no more "high season" as we know it, on Phuket, so, I suggest, whatever "increased security" that police put in place, it should remain all year around, just to keep pace with Phuket's rising crime rate.

Wonder why all senior police man are fat?

They are not fat. They are wearing money belts. The higher the rank, the thicker the money belt. cheesy.gif

Crime may increase but tourism wont contract. Return airfares to Phuket from Australia are often cheaper than domestic fares and luxury hotels are at giveaway prices on holiday package deals.

Much cheaper for 100,000's of Aussies to holiday in Phuket than expensive Perth, Queensland or tropical Cairns.
