Fun car - Leaving Thailand for Philippines

Thanks guys, All info about Philippines are appreciated.

When talking about Philippines bad safety reputation with the expat friend living there, they all said that they had never encountered or heard about any robbery or violence. Just a few minor housebreaks, in one guys 20 years of stay there. And to be honest, i did never felt unsafe during my short trip there and I walked on many streets at night, rode jepnees, buses and taxis. And i did not encounter so many beggars as well, no more than what you would see here i would say. I have been living here in Thailand for 12-yearst straight, and yes, Thailand is much more developed, but i got the feeling that Filipinos are smarter, better educated and more honest. They also seems to be genuinely happy to talk to foreigners. And what i like the most, is that everything it written in English, i mean everything. you can even use a GPS there in search for an address which is near impossible here. Yea, lazy me who have not learned to read Thai in 12 years, i do agree.

Back to the car subject:

I plan to buy a sporty crossover when arriving. I have looked at Ford Escape 2.0l Ecoboost, i don't like the looks (too lame) of it and its interior (too messy) based from picture seen. But the fact that it is uber-well equipt and has a 240HP turbo engine, which people are tuning to 280-300hp, and it is affordable, fully loaded P1,790,000 ($38,000 or B1,358,000) makes it a strong candidate anyhow. Folk seems to love this car in all reviews so i must test drive one when getting over there again in January. For long i thought about Mazda CX-5, but the 2.5l offered there, was fun to drive, but the car suffers from week powerplant. The same goes for the Hyundai Tuscon.

My Filipino friend even says its unsafe there, when she waits for a car she usually waits indoors, never out on the street in fear of being kidnapped or robbed. OP take care and be safe.

yes i think im right when i say " phillipines has highest or second highest rate of kidnapping in the world ?

Everything on this thread PI wise comes from first hand observations... Could go into more → much more - like people dissappearing (forever) and other goings on there....

Keep your eyes wide open OP.....Wishing you much success and hoping you find happiness....Don't do anything stupid that screams money....

I only commented on the Car, but have to say i agree with many of the negative posts about living in Philippines also, i spend a few Months a year there for work, would never even consider moving there . . . . . . . . . .
