Any fellow traveller for relaxed 3-day roadtrip Chiang Mai - Ranong ?

Hi everybody,

I will move from Chiang Mai down south to Ranong whith in the next 2-3 weeks. I first planned to fly down as usual and to send my stuff through Thailandpost... but I would really like to "get a glance" at the country and countryside in between. And I found out, a one-way car rental + gas is not too expensive. Si I will probably get a PickUp, lets say around 24th of November, and I will have to return it 3-4 days later in Surat Thani.

If you are as relaxed as I am, interested in authentic impressions much more than tourist destinations, just get in touch with me. There will not be the time for too many real "visits" or detours. But for now, i am quite flexible about dates, times, and the exact road to take. I would like to stay off the main Highways, enjoy relaxed driving as well (experienced driver on all continents, so you can feel safe, especially because I am not a dreamer, and I know on thai roads nothing is totally safe :-)).

For the stops and sleepovers I am quite open to any budget solution. I'm usually a camper, on my own I would just find a nice and quiet spot and put up my tent or hammoc next to the car and some nice campfire. But I would not mind if you prefere to find or share a guesthouse etc.

The car would probably be a Toyota Hilux Pickup, for 2 passengers. Luggage (with enough protection to bear the winds or if unfortunate some raindrops) should be no problem outside. Inside we would have to deal with te space available.

If you are not travelling and I do not find a fellow traveller, but you have bulky stuff to be carried down south to some address on my way, let me know as well.

Looking forward to your answer, and to this kind of trip... because its always fun and never works out exactly as planned :-). But I like to cite some canadian guy, who gave me a lift: "How could you ever say, you know a place, if you never got lost " :-)

Answer or get in touch by PM, I will answer quickly

Safe trips to all of you

Thorsten

PS. I hope this link works, that could be the travel route (avoiding Bangkok and the most important highways where possible, and trying to pass by some of te most recommended regions on my way: https://goo.gl/maps/CGYDACUKc652
