BANGKOK: -- The junta chief’s theme song, "Return Happiness," has gone to no. 1 in the Thai music chart due to being the most played track of all Bangkok's FM radio channels in October.

The famous version of the song by renowned GMM Grammy rock singer Asanee Chotikul topped the chart organized by website Intensive Watch, which tracks and ranks songs based on how many times they are played on FM radio in Bangkok.

In October alone, Asanee’s version was played 1,042 times on radio, while the original version by the Royal Thai Army Band ranked no. 7 with 813 plays.

Mind boggling.

And if it hadn't, there would have been some serious attitude adjustment for the program managers.

So based on times played, not sales? That's about as good a measure of its popularity as those polls..

Wonder why it got so many plays?

Wait...

Let me see...

Hang on...

Just a minute.....

Yeah....

Got it....

The bizarre continues.............coffee1.gif

I've noticed all the band's covering the song at the pubs due to it's popularity. NOT!!!!

The bizarre continues.............coffee1.gif

Beyond bizarre!

And they actually expect people to take them seriously?????

There is a difference between offering money and forcing stations to play something as part of state propaganda.

Would liked to have gone to the original article, but I'm not going to sign up for some app to do so.

News came from CocaNuts. Next

The junta's form of Payola.

"You get to see what the view is on the outside of the bars looking in".

What's at number 2? "Everybreath you take" by the Police (the rock band with Sting as lead vocals).

Vomiting in mouth. sick.gif

When playing any "normal" song they have to pay royalties so the radio stations probably play this song because it's free or maybe they even get payed to play it!

No, no, no, that's not what I'm thinking.

Down my street every night like clockwork at 6pm the loudspeakers attached to the top of the lamp posts play the national anthem, loy krathong song, father's day song and then advertisements for local business are played. It lasts for about 15 minutes. Is this new? No its been like that since I moved to this street. Radio stations are probably the same and play these songs regularly. Its Thailand, not propoganda. Some of the music they play is quite enjoyable to listen to especially jazz. I love jazz.

I'd say that playing this song is propaganda, the reason being....it is.

O.k, its alright, I'll tell you what, to put a smile on yer face, I agree, it's propaganda. There, that's better, chin up.

Really makes no difference at all to me whether you agree with me or not.

None at all.

Chin up on what?

It has 3 likes and 79 dislikes. Youtube democracy at work.

3,000 likes, but then Thais do like sentimental nationalistic <deleted> that paints an idealized version of what they and the country are.

The day the nation, the King, and the mass of people live without danger

We offer to guard and protect you with our hearts

This is our promise

Today the nation is facing menacing danger

The flames are rising

Let us be the ones who step in, before it is too late

To bring back love, how long will it take?

Please, will you wait? We will move beyond disputes

We will do what we promised. We are asking for a little more time.

And the beautiful land will return

We will do with sincerity

All we ask of you is to trust and have faith in us

The land will be good soon

Let us return happiness to you, the people

Today, we will be tired [because of our mission], we know

We offer to fight the danger

Lives of soldiers will not surrender

This is our promise

Today the nation is facing menacing danger.

The flames are rising

Let us be the ones who step in, before it is too late

The land will be good soon

Happiness will return to Thailand

And they actually expect people to take them seriously?????

Please refer to him by his proper title, 'Junta John'

Thank you.
