RidgeRunner
Sounds reasonable if: 1. They don't set up empty chairs. 2. They haul all their stuff off the beach at sunset so the place doesn't look like crap.
Emster23
10% of what? Not explained here or in source. 10% clean? 10% no corruption zone?
madmitch
These figures would imply that the zones would be allowed to operate right down to the seafront. I'm sure that's not the case. This literally is an example of one dimensional thinking!
wabothai
May be of interest to read when you know what a 10% zone is. Wouldn't hurt to clarify this in the article Thaivisa!
steelepulse
Good news about Nai Harn as last weekend the length of the beach was taken up by the vendors and their umbrellas. Guess I'll have to take a look and confirm.
ajarnmarc
Now that they're cleaning it, they will certainly think they own it. Hate to see what happens when the first foreigner lets their bag blow away, or plastic cup go tossing down the shoreline... The Thai's will be on the unlucky tourist in a heartbeat. Hopefully they can start by putting up signs to encourage people to help keep the beach clean, but first they need to put in some trash cans so people can place their waste where it needs to be... I can see it now, "50 baht for clean beach. You no pay. You can no go beach." It might change from a beach lounge and umbrella charge, to a "clean beach fee." steelepulse
Happy to report that Nai Harn now has just two narrow swaths of umbrellas two rows deep.
