KANCHANABURI: -- Thirteen resorts and one restaurant in Sisawat district of Kanchanaburi are facing encroachment charges from the Forest Department, according to a report from the director of the special operations office to the Forest Department.

The report said that all the resort and restaurant operators are not natives of Kanchanaburi but outsiders who have encroached on the forest reserves.

Facing encroachment charges are Kinnaree Resort, Anantra Resort, Rak Nam Resort, Lake Haven Resort, Phu Prai Lake Resort, Phu Nok Nguak Resort, Oxygen Ozone Resort, Raya Buri Resort, Pha Klom Prai Resort, Pae Chao Rua Resort, Pae Nam Jone Resort, Pae Pee Ton Resort, Kin Lom Chom View restaurant and Rai Wan Warn.

The report said that the Forest Department cannot take legal action against most of the resorts situated on rafts in the Srinagarind dam because the reservoir is under the jurisdiction of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand.

How many times do we read the headlines that an individual(s), an organisation etc are to face charges, action and so on and then ... !

Headlines are grabbed until full investigation reveals who is actually involved, who they're connected to and all the other necessary requirements to ensure nothing happens

The post above is spot on.

Investigations are launched which will inevitably result in very little.

I would bet that the resorts mentioned will still be there 5 or 10 years from now.

I stayed on a raft resort on the river, spending a few enjoyable days at hellfire pass, I never did find out where the toilet outlet went....................coffee1.gif

Some things are better left unknown!

When you have a new crew taking over (via coup, election"ha",so forth) it takes time for them to visit all the illegal operations to get their yearly pay off.It is the resorts at Kanchanaburi's time.Even if the illegal operations(resorts, restaurants, late night bars, brothels, smuggling operations, and so forth) have just paid the BIB or local boss, one must pay the new piper..DJ

Read that every month....what happened in Koh Tao, Koh Lipe, the other national parks?

That government really tries, but Prayut is neither strong enough nor smart enough. Find someone better......

Being military dictator but not able to remove a few houses in protected areas which obvious and clearly brake the law.

problem is that there are so many illegal resorts etc built in Thailand that if they shut them all down they would lose a lot of their tourist dollars, something unthinkable to the hi-so's and hierachy of the country who in most cases own said illegal buildings..

I wonder how many times the junta chief already heard the reply:

"you are just another PM, they come and go but I'm one of the untouchables who will stay forever."

Most probably true.....

But in fact he has absolute power, he could raid them with tanks, confiscate everything and put them into jail without court if he want and many people applaud.

He is not just another PM....or well he is but by his own choice.

Most of these important people are just medium important, enough of the buildings are from some rich in Bangkok who have a couple of millions to invest but CP, Singha, Shinawatra clans.

But if he would go for these super rich super corrupt clans he would be a real hero and he is one of the few who could do......But it is his own decision to be somewhere between Yingluck and Abhisit....as smart as Yingluck and as efficient as Abhisit.

Or, he could get a chunk of lead by "special delivery" from any one of thousands of operatives those untouchables have on their speed dial. Many of them probably have daily access to the guy.

He may have absolute power, but he doesn't have superpowers.

It's seems fairly safe to assume that he's not being paid off by Shin Corporation.

As for the others?
