ANGTHONG: -- A 21-year-old woman has demanded justice after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a male hospital employee after she underwent surgery.

The victim, whose identity was withheld, said after she had an appendectomy from a local hospital in Angthong province on Nov. 9, the employee allegedly “groped her genitals with force” when he removed her from the operation bed.

The victim said she was conscious at the time and after the incident, she told a nurse who promised to make the alleged pervert apologize.

Two days after the victim had left the hospital, she still hadn’t received a response from the hospital.

I would imagine there are at least a couple of reasons why she waited a week to complain to the police, even though she reported it to the nurse at the time. Firstly she had just come out of surgery under general anaesthetic and was still recovering in her hospital bed.

Secondly if she was groped liked that, she may have been too bewildered and embarrassed to complain at first or know how to proceed, at least until she had discussed it with friends and collected her thoughts. The embarrassment of having to go the police where she may or may not be believed and the story reaching the press would have been a deterrent. As you can see, her identity and face has been withheld in the story, most likely at her request.

She may also have been worried about accusing him while still in a vulnerable situation. All sorts of things could have happened to her to cover this up.
