Liking the norther route.

Where are construction zones &c.?

the highlight path is in excellent condition. did it last month. the longer southern route is also good.

South route (11-101) is the best highway.

The Lampang (1- 103) is ok for the 1 , 103 though had construction , and I'm not sure it has completely finished especially the mountainous part.

The north road (118-120): the 120 was a smaller but a very nice fun road , up and down. But the Phayao-Nan roads were bad starting from Phayao , around halfway in the mountains , nice and sometimes spectacular.

This is from 2 years ago but I doubt much has changed from Phayao.

Also done this route three months ago. Fairly good but occasional large pothole for the unwary. Good for small bikes 125 cc or under where speed is not so important ad arriving at your destination.

Nan is very popular now as a tourist destination so if you have a nice place in mind might be better to phone and book ahead to get the jump on the crowds.

The biggest problem I found was, sleeping dogs on the roads, come around the

corner and 2-3 dogs asleep in middle of the road, happened several times.

regards worgeordie P.S. they might have all been killed by now.

I took the southern route from Lampang in October - little spots of construction here and there but nothing too bad…

The Museum in Nan was closed. I think it might be opening again soon but you might want to check.

I noticed the norther route goes thru some national parks.

Fees?

I did the 'Northern' route last week. Roads great, no problems with National Park fees. The only barriers were on the 'Southish-Northern' route using the 1120 loop to 'Ngao'. One let me straight through and another was unmannned. I did that for a change on the way back although it does mean 30k or so of highway back North to Phayao.

...and what is it with those sleeling dogs? Suprised the 'doggie Darwin theory' has't weeded them out yet.
