Obama accepts duty of US to help fix climate change

606x341_318040.jpg

PARIS: -- Speaking at the Paris summit, US President Barack Obama said the United States accepted its duty as the world’s second-biggest greenhouse gas emitter to fix climate change.

He added that global action need not damage economic growth.

“I’ve come here personally, as leader of the world’s largest economy and the second largest emitter, to say that the United States of America not only recognise our role in creating this problem, we embrace our responsibility in doing something about it,” Obama said.

“We have broken the old arguments for inaction,” added Obama. “We have proved that strong economic growth and a safer environment no longer have to conflict with one another. They can work in concert with one another. And that should give us hope.”

Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping earlier said they would work together for a climate change agreement that would ensure a “low carbon global economy” this century.

Obama can talk about climate change all day long, this is an issue that he doesn't have to show any immediate results

so he can orate on the subject like only Obama can,

But when it comes to the real issues the world is direly facing right now, the present and immanent dangers of global,

radical Muslim's terrorism, he goes from a roar to an incoherent mumble......

I hope there is credible action ...talk is just way too easy

China has a heavy responsibility to slow their economy while not crashing their own political reforms for their people

China has an ability to show the world now using clean energy and has the same clout as it has when it transformed the country's infrastructure now it needs to commit to environmental clean energy and not look at the cheapest cost of energy

A path USA took in its early industrialisation days just like China did in the 80s and 90s

No, he means it on climate change. The Chinese government just lies about it.

Republicans are all climate change deniers and they hate Obama. With a heightened level of fear of all things, they spout nonsense about the imminent dangers of radical Muslim terrorism while their wingnuts shoot up Planned Parenthood Clinics. The clear and imminent danger is the radical right wing. They're craaaaazzzzzy. blink.png

If you get news from other sources, besides Fox News, you realize just how important these climate talks are. But then again, you won't be doing that, so check your ammo and wait for the the Muslims to attack, while Obama hopefully saves the world.

The Greenblob Annual Ritual, aka COP21 in Paris, is not now, never has been and never will be about anything called ‘climate change’. Nothing to do with climate science, nothing to do with climate catastrophism, nothing to do with 'saving the planet'. This is a political agenda, disguised as an environmental cause. It is simply a McGuffin to fool the gullible.

It is an opportunity for politicians to play Captain Planet and appear like noble heroes rather than sleazy ratbags; an attempt by the global bureaucracy to extend their mandate; and a chance for developing nations to demand vast sums of money from the West for being too rich.

In case you aren't aware, the President has many issues that he must be engaged. The environment is just one, yet it's a huge issue that the entire world is grappling with (excl climate change non-believers).

If you're talking about personal safety in the USA, there are piles and piles of documentation which indicates that there are many more things to worry about than radical Muslim terrorists. Being shot by a fellow American is much more likely than being attacked by a foreign terrorist. I realize the right wing crazies want to harp on this issue because it makes them sound strong and oh so American. Of course, none of them have a coherent answer as to what they would realistically do (nothing Trump says is realistic). But it makes for great political theater....which is why most Americans despise politics.

Pure nonsense. This past year was the hottest in recorded history by two degrees. Seas are rising, glaciers are melting and the poles are vastly shrinking.

There is only one political party in the world that denies climate change, the Republican wingnuts.

Ah, the essence of progressive politics, with great fanfare state your determination to fix imaginary problems whilst studiously ignoring real ones often created by their own ideological blind spots.

I half expect the UK attendees to be delayed on their return from this junket by Heathrow being closed due to Arctic blizzards. Some are predicting the coldest winter since 1963.

OMG, I can't believe you went there. That's hilarious. clap2.gif

Climate change isn't about a winter storm or a snowball. Our illustrious Oklahoma Republican Senator James Inhofe, the biggest and loudest climate change denier in Congress (and moron), went on the floor of the senate with a snowball to show it was cold enough for snow to exist in Washington, D.C., therefore climate change is a hoax.

Climate change is about carbon pollution, which comes from burning fossil fuels, and that is beyond legitimate dispute. Believe every single major American scientific society and 97% of all scientists or you can believe the Senator with the snowball and the rest of the Republicans who get funded by the people in the dirty fuel biz.

Again, there is only one political party worldwide that doesn't believe there is climate change...the Republicans.

No thanks, I'm writing my own global climate model software, am having trouble with the carbon algorithms. Maybe you could assist me?

What was that again? Carbon pollution? Are you saying that Antarctica is completely covered with soot, resulting in massive icecap melting or some such?

A little news on the transparency of the global warming scam.

NOAA Attempts To Hide The Pause In Global Warming: The Most Disgraceful Cover-Up Since Climategate
by JAMES DELINGPOLE
29 Oct 2015
The US government’s main climate research agency has refused a request by House Republicans to release key documents concerning the controversial issue of whether or not there has been a “pause” in global warming.
Despite being a public, taxpayer-funded institution, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) insists that it is under no obligation to provide the research papers, as demanded in a subpoena by Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX).
Gosh. What vital information of national secrecy importance could NOAA possibly have to hide?
