Car battery Vios 2005

Featured Replies

Hi there

I'm fairly new on this site, so please bear with me.

My old Toyota Vios 2005's battery was completely dead, so I went and bought a new one, but after reading on this forum, I'm starting to be concerned if I bought a proper battery.

I (naively) trusted the repairshop and went ahead and bought a Panasonic maintenance free battery. The guy at the shop said it had a 1 year guarantee. but after reading that several think that Panasonic isn't good battery, I'm wondering if anyone has good experiences with these batteries? Furthermore, can I expect a 2-3 year lifetime or?

Thanks in advance

All batteries in Thailand are crap. 3 years is a good life expectancy.

Will last longer if not mounted in engine compartment.

I generally get 2 years in my honda, but nearly 3 years in my swift so far. I think the brand won't make a huge difference, as they don't last that long anyway.

I think it is rather the hot weather that shortens the livespan of batteries in Thailand.
Heat is a battery killer, And short trips with less then 20 minutes also not helpful.
I live in the middle between Pattaya and Rayong. To Pattaya and return its around 100km, to Rayong about 90km. So if I use the car it gets a nice charging and not much slow traffic, which keeps the temperature down.
Usually I can use a car battery around 5-6 years Thailand.

I have a Panasonic in my Ranger, two years in service and all OK. Have had others now in 12-yrs of the Ford, would say about 3 years is good expectation. My vehicles are kept in covered carport thus probably far cooler in battery area than ones out in the open. Heat and cold are killers for batteries.

There's nothing wrong with Panasonic batteries.
