Leaving car in Satun to go to Koh Lipe

Featured Replies

I'm driving down to Satun with the intention of leaving my car at either the ferry pier or a safe place near by and traveling over to Koh Lipe for a few days. Can anyone advise if this is safe to do so, whether they've done it and where the best place to leave the car would be? I believe there's more than one pier you can catch a ferry from.. Any advice much appreciated

Cheers

There is a good parking lot next to the Satun ferry terminal. The route to the ferry is marked with road signs. I used it several times but that was about six years ago for my latest usage. Place was very much remote and thus empty after the last ferry and thus all night. Might be very different now that Koh Lippe has become quite popular and with ferry links to Langkawi.

At the smaller piers you will usually find one or more privately managed ‘guarded’ parking lots where you can leave your car overnight or longer for a small fee. It’s usually locals having turned their backyards in a small car park. They normally find you before you can find them. I used their services several times during the past few years (Satun, Trang), without problems.

Thanks for the advice people will go down and try my luck!

I would suggest you head over to Pak Barra pier. They have some paid parking spots within walking distance.

Cheers Kurt.. Is it secure?

The place I used was actually on someones property with a large gate. I left both my motorcycle and truck parked there with no issues.
