Recommended Posts

I'm making a non alcoholic flavored drink and I need to find Essence Flavoring such as Vanilla,

Spearmint, peppermint etc...

Does anyone know where this can be bought in Chiang Mai?

Thank You

All of the supermarkets sell various flavours in the baking aisle.

If it being non-alcoholic is important to you, don't buy vanilla essence. It is restricted in a lot of places in Australia now as kids were buying the big bottles of it, the alcohol content must be quite high. Vanilla extract (McCormack brand, brown plastic bottles) is available at Macro, Tops and Rimping definitely, possibly Tesco and Big C but I'm not sure. It costs a lot (and I mean a lot) more than essence.

For bakers, a little FYI on essence vs extract; blind tests have been done and despite the foodies telling us how superior the taste of extract is and how we shouldn't use anything but, there is absolutely no difference. Can't find the source, but it was a fairly big sampling of food 'experts' who couldn't tell the difference.
