France's mainstream parties scramble to counter the shock breakthrough of the far-right National Front

"What we represent the day after this election is a real breath of freedom, independence and uprightness"

PARIS: -- The shock breakthrough of the far right National Front in French regional elections has left the mainstream parties scrambling to counter the advance.

Just weeks after the terrorist attacks in Paris, the ruling Socialists and the conservative Republicans find themselves for the first time trailing the National Front of Marine Le Pen in six out of 13 regions.

A crucial second round of voting takes place next Sunday.

The Socialists have already called on their candidates who came in third place in battleground seats to withdraw, to enable strategic voting to block the National Front.

National Front leader Marine Le Pen told supporters:
“What we represent the day after this election is a real breath of freedom, independence and uprightness.

“We have the conviction that we will not make any deals, which is different to what our adversaries do. And that’s how we’ll continue in the second round.”

Having to bow out of the race in some seats and leave a duel between the National Front and the opposition Republicans is a blow for the French President, Francois Hollande.

His popularity has been rising recently, but that has not translated into votes.

Former president Nicolas Sarkozy, the leader of the Republicans, has already ruled out any withdrawal of candidates, or mergers with other parties, to block the far right.

Marine Le Pen has now declared the National Front the country’s top party after it scored the most votes nationally, scoring almost 28 percent of the vote.

French front page reaction to the result:

An historic and proud victory for the real French peoples, and a sure sign the worm has turned. I can remember first encountering Marine's father after seeing graffiti *&^%Le Pen scrawled over walls in SW France as a kid, and later finding out who he was and what he stood for. Debates featuring Ms Le Pen and Merkel are excellent viewing, suffice to say that Merkel just does not have any answers for Le Pen's questions nor responses to her statements. This is a rare case of logic and sense prevailing in a climate of white guilt and genocide.

How is this a ' shock breakthrough ' as reactions like this are happening all over ?

Mainstream parties are so arrogant in their belief that their voters will stick with them no matter what and when it backfires they roll along assuring themselves its just a fad or a knee jerk reaction and the voters will be back to the fold.

No big differences between these current leaders and the repressive Muslim terrorists they oppose, only that at the voters are attracted to a party that has the interests of the French nation and its people at heart.

The results in France show that the French prefer a party that has the intersts of the French people at heart not some twisted repressive religious belief

You reckon? le Pen's economic policies, if implemented, would eventually destroy the French economy. As for the poster who admired le Pen's fathers' policies - are you out of your mind or in fact have no idea what he stood for & still does.

Great news. The leftist "liberal" mainstream media and the bovine masses that listen to them would of course be shocked, but no-one with any brains will be surprised. For some reason the left wants nothing more that to be subjugated and dominated. They relish the destruction of themselves and their culture. Well done Le Pen. What is called the "far-right" would be regarded at quite sensible in any other age. Why not label all the socialist, leftist, virtue signalling idiots as "far-left" instead?

Listen to yourself. You way overestimate the importance of muslims in western society. Their removal will lessen the welfare burden and allow society to peacefully and harmoniously exist like it used to until the late 80s and the arrival of PC. Eventually destroy the French economy? Seriously? By booting out hateful dole bludgers? Au contraire my friend, it would be a positive development on every level. If you can remind me of one positive in any aspect these muslim migrants have brought to benefit their host country I will re-evaluate my thinking. The only potential positive they have brought IMO is to make the news both watchable and sometimes pretty darn exciting. On every other level it has been an unmitigated disaster.

Her economic policies will be fine. There is no free trade with currency manipulation and currency manipulation is king right now. So don't get caught up in all this "free trade" nonsense.

Since when is Marine Le Pen far right?

Here father MAYBE.

It get boring that the other parties just label everyone who shows common sense: far right.

I hope for France that more parties like Front National comes to power. FPOE in Austria is also gaining on every election.

You have to admire a bloke with balls even a little bit when he cans someones comments but cannot or will not back up it with facts. Charlie, I am waiting in anticipation for your words of wisdom.

Now if only Americans would just wake up in the US and follow France's lead instead of voting their incumbents back into office each election cycle, and then complaining about how bad their government is.

First of all read le Pen's manifesto in full, some of it makes sense, but you come across as having minimal knowledge as to what she's actually proposing.

If in your opinion a viable economic platform is irrelevant to the future stability of France, that's your choice. If in your opinion le Pens father's history of virulent anti-semitism, indeed until relatively recently also FN, is irrelevant, that's your choice. If you believe le Pen's cosying up with and support from Putin is irrelevant, that's your choice. If in your opinion Europe is already lost to the Islamists, that's your choice.

You've previously posted it is preferable for the Europe the Nazis should not have defeated, due to the current threat of the Islamists, that's your choice.

Kindly do not attempt to assert your moral superiority, as far as I'm concerned it's a fallacy.

Marine Le Pen's father sneaked into the final round in the 2002 presidential election only to be crushed by Pres. Jaques Chirac who was successfully re-elected. Chirac got 80% of the vote in the final round contrasted to the paltry 20% of Jean-Marie Le Pen of the fascist National Front party.

Daughter Marine Le Pen is her own person in her own time, however, so she is doing better than the Old Man who got booted out of the party by her and her young supporters. So maybe this time with anti-immigrant feelings stronger and more immediate, maybe her party will get upwards of 30% in the Sunday regional elections.

As should be anticipated, Marine Le Pen and the National Front is not popular among those who know fascism.

French National Front is 'fascist, extremist': German minister

German Finance Minister Suggests Responsibility for National Front Victory Stretches Beyond French Borders

German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Tuesday branded the French National Front party fascist and extremist after the anti-immigrant Eurosceptics shocked Europe by coming first in France's European Parliament elections.

"Not only for our French colleagues, we have to (ask ourselves) what mistakes we made if a quarter of the (French) electorate voted for … not a right-wing party but for a fascist, extremist party," Schaeuble, speaking in English, told a conference in Berlin.

Extends beyond French borders indeed. To Putin in Russia. So this is yet another major reason Angela Merkel has quit on the Germany-Russia relationship. There is still trade between the two and the import of Russian natural gas, but the import of the natural gas is being significantly decreased by Merkel. Germany is securing new sources of energy. Putin is pushing it and he soon will have gone too far against the European Union and the West as a whole.

Russia's Big Bet on the French Far Right

It literally pays to be a European friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin. At least that's the experience of Marine Le Pen, whose far-right National Front party has secured a 9 million-euro Russian bank loan in what appears to be a Kremlin bet on the future of French politics.

http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2014-11-24/russias-big-bet-on-the-french-far-right

Putin for several years now has been providing major funds to a number of far right parties in European Union countries. So Le Pen and the National Front of fascists in France are not the only fascists Putin is funding in elections in countries of the European Union. Putin's gonna keep getting sanctions for a long time to come. And then some further grief.

As we can see below, it gets tough when two Paris courts to include an appeals court say it's okay to call Marine Le Pen a "fascist." It could be reminiscent of the 1750s case in the American colonies of Britain when New York publisher John Peter Zenger was found not guilty by a jury. The jury said the truth is a valid legal defense after the Crown tried unsuccessfully to convict Zenger of saying the king of England was a "tyrant." The jury said the truth is a valid reason to be found not guilty.

Front National's Le Pen can be called fascist, court rules

A French comedian, who called the country’s National Front leader Marine Le Pen ‘a fascist b*tch,’ was within his rights, a court in Paris has ruled.

An appeals court in Paris stated that it was "perfectly clear to any reader that the column in question was being deliberately provocative," Le Figaro newspaper reported.

Nicholas Bedos was in his right to call Le Pen ‘a fascist b*tch,’ the French judges ruled

https://www.rt.com/news/242665-lepen-court-fascist-comedian/

Last year a Paris district court judge ruled it is free speech for political opponents of Marine Le Pen to say she is a "fascist." The "b*tch" addition by the comedian was incorporated into the case against the use of the political term. So it is legal in France to say Marine Le Pen is a "fascist b*tch."

It is not only legal, it is true.

It wont be long before someone elects a new equivelant to a NAZI party Gov out of anger against terrorist attacks, then there will be a huge uprising from all muslims - and then perhaps World war 2 will be repeated with Muslim concentration camps, a gestapo and the biggest Global war we have ever seen...

Well that's what Nostradamus says too...

Fire from the heavens will strike the West, and the Muslim (Midy) world will rush upon Israel (au Levant), People will die of hunger without finding a root to feed on.. this is the third world war, the fury of the Gods of war, the revolutionaries (Escarboucles) will light their flaming fires, the war of revolution, and at the finish will be famine. Sixain 27

Nostradamus uses the word “midy,” or people of the south, to denote the world of Islam. Some people have claimed the word “Levant” applies to the Isle de Levant, a small island off the coast of France close to Hyeres. Others have claimed it signifies Japan, as in “soleil levant” or the rising sun. However, in Nostradamus’ time, it would have been understood as the Levant coast, stretching from Syria through Lebanon and Israel, to the Egyptian border in the eastern Mediterranean. The word “Escarboucles” means carbuncle or garnet, which is poppy or blood red, and signifies revolution. The famine mentioned at the end of the Sixain is of world wide proportions.

Well, at least the global warming crowd should be happy, as the resulting depopulation will solve the carbon emission problem. However, I'm not hopeful that it will make them happy, as some people just have to complain about everything- too much carbon today, too little food tomorrow. 5555
