Tiger attacks 4-year-old girl in Ayutthaya

Featured Replies

So there was no safety distance fence installed around the cages? Flog the operators!

And the parents allowed their daughter to stand on a chair in immediate proximity to the cage? Flog the parents!

Wild animals are NOT toys! When will stupid people finally learn that fact?

I have spent 50 years in the out doors as my user name might suggest. I have been in the Russian forest with tigers, bears and very large piggies! Those of us who have an understanding of wild animal behaviour and attend these Thai adventure parks with Tigers etc notice that very often the big cats look like they are asleep or nearly so. Sometimes they are almost definitely drugged. They loll around hardly taking notice of anything, specifically not taking much notice of adult humans. Drugged or not, it is interesting to observe the difference when a 2 to 8 year old child comes near. All of a sudden, at the sight, or sound of a child's voice they wake up and remain VERY interested. I won't say that they all sit there and lick their lips like the Saber-Tooth Diego and his pack in the first Ice Age movie, but the change in state of attention is dramatic. Tigers are not really interested in adult humans. Kenneth Anderson & Jim Corbett (Google them) used to sleep soundly with only a mosquito net in the forest if they were not hunting man eaters, and with just one ear open for monkeys, birds & deer warnings if a man eater was about Large cats are however, absolutely interested in small child humans. I am willing to bet it tried to drag her a little closer for a taste test. She was very lucky to get away with two stitches. It so very easily could have been a whole lot worse.

2 stitches in a head wound for a 4 year old would not be news without the involvement of the tiger.

How a culture treats animals is a good indication of how advanced that culture is.

The girl is the only one not at fault. The parents probably let her play with knives too

It wasn't our fault for making the cages unsafe and leaving a chair lying around. No! There many visitors and tigers feel nervous. 55555. Just unreal how some people are wired.

And then the parents. Can we blame people who have an IQ of 60? I'm not sure. Thank goodness the little girl got away with a few stitches.

No wonder there are no tigers left in the wild, they are all captive in Thai tiger shows. Where is the law protecting these endangered species? Greed rules again. Bloody disgraceful

It's not that Thai people don't have normal IQ levels, they just don't use the extra +40.

I think it's the same as with not using the headlights on their vehicles at dusk or night, they save electric.

Some of them actually believe it saves fuel.

Then 'some of them' are correct - because actually it does. The more electrical items in use on your vehicle the more the load on the alternator and hence an increased load on the motor = higher fuel consumption.

To be fair a couple hundred watts of lighting is only going to make a small difference to fuel consumption - but technically the reasoning is correct. Never noticed or wondered why the rpm dips on a generator when a connected appliance is switched on? You don't get something for nothing - basic Physics.

Two stitches after being "attacked" by a tiger cheesy.gif

In fact the beast found this little girl cute and tried to gave her a pat, but she drew back her head in fear.tongue.png

Also be sure the tiger is sorry now.wink.png

I had a police Inspector in England who believed the same. Never used headlights where there was street lighting. Often stopped by traffic police, who thought he was probably OPL. Not only a Thai thing. Tight gits everywhere who are happy thinking they are getting an extra 000.5 kpl.

....lucky to be alive..... all considered....

a proper fence would have prevented such incident..?

Place should be shut down immediately. But probably stayed open the entire time, even right after the incident.

The girls lucky. That thing could have ripped her head straight off. Even the small tigers can have razor sharp claws

The Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai gets its fair share of people who pay 400 baht to get to pat a tiger. Not for me, I might just be the one a tiger decides tastes good.smile.png

the only tiger I want to pat is the one on the bottle burp.gif Tiger Beer hic ... hic

Mosquitos in this country loves me dearly, I bet ya Tigers love me too.

I'm not paying for an altercation when I can have it for free.

And the bar girls

A pathetic 10,000 baht compensation!

I think the park has a responsibility to ensure people cannot get right up to the cage mesh of their enclosure ... there should be a 1m safe barrier.

They did pay all medical and compensation which is rare in Thailand ..... this is good from them and avoids bad exposure.

The little girl is very lucky indeed, she could have easily ended up looking like a rag doll.

Hang on a minute Mr. Timelord! He said he would. A He's got this promise in the news now. He's not going to give a <deleted> and probably won't do anything of the sort. Look at it like this. Children are small. If a big tall man leaned over, maybe there may be some chance of a very hard to get at person could get scratched, but if a little girl can be tall enough to get in harm's way, consider how far the claws must be to passers by. If they cared about the public, they'd never let them that near in the first place. A normal cat in a cage will have a pop at people if it's not tame, so this is not encouraging for their compensation. Thais heal well as they're genetically prone to have 'accidents' but I hope her face isn't made in anyway less pretty by this.

They won't learn because they're stupid. 90% of the population, and I'm being conservative, have IQ's struggling to reach double figures

There's quite a few trying to save fuel in Australia as well then. Try driving around Melbourne at these times.

Must be worried about climate change.

Very sorry for the girl. No smart parents, thinking its a pussycat.

But a very galant tiger seeing the conversation:

>She stayed very close to the cage and was then clawed on the head by a tiger.

>He apologised the parents for the incident and agreed to take care of all the medical expense, plus a 10,000 baht compensation.

i watched that tiger documentary about the temple abbot, what is quite concerning is he said, and i quote: when the tigers get frisky and just let the females into the cage and let them go at it... now there is over 100 tigers at the temple and they keep going missing. but there now seems to be tigers everywhere, i went to Nong nuch gardens last month and there were about 4 tigers there too... All of them were out with tourists being charged to take pics with them... They ll were fully grown and had been trained obviously from a early age to be used to humans... but still... there is more to this captive tiger business in Thailand than people are letting on to...

They are constantly drugged so that they can take photos of them and the tourists and then sell it to the tourists. It's animal cruelty in it's worst form. Greedy scumbags. They should all be tried at the International Court in The Hague including the tourists who get their pic taken with these tortured animals

Apologised to the parents for their gross stupidity!

That sums it up for me.

Bad Kitty...very bad kitty...stop that!

And so the parents win the Darwin Award for December. Congratulations! clap2.gif

Don't forget the 10 grand wai.gif

a tiger at an elephant camp...

what can u find at a chicken farm here??

Security not sufficient in this inclosure and a good court case may motivate them

I live here. That's what I see. If I lived in the USA I'd be saying the same thing Mr Apologist. Anyone who keeps big animals in captivity is a cruel and heartless b'tard.

Cheers

" stitches!! must have been a ferocious attack!!!

there is an ever present danger showing wild animals I wish people would realise that's exactly what they are wild animals and they must be kept in a secure environment when on show to the public .

One 4-year-old's stitches are another 4-year-old's slashed carotid artery. Ponder that, mr triple exclamation mark.
