Can't get rid of Malware-Adware

Having a heck of a time need some help as I have searched control panel for new installed program (nothing), have used my antivirus scan (nothing), downloaded a stinger/cleaner that removed Lucky Leap adware but problem persists, quarantined an adware cookie, cleared cookies multiple times still problem persists.

Don't know if you can see but zabava guest house is now a pop-up hyperlink to dnsadlocker.

What DNS is your Router AND Computer set to use?

If it's not the standard DNS of your ISP, or one you've specifically set, then any of your browser connections could be diverted and any delivered content containing Web 2.0 'scripts' could be modified to include additional script instructions that's designed to highlight keywords on a webpage. This is just one possibility.

Does it happen right away when you start the computer, launch the browser, open ThaiVisa?

Does it happen in any other browsers?

Does your browser go to a homepage first?

Does your browser have active 'extensions', 'add-ons', 'plug-ins', or 'services' running that you didn't authorize?

Reminder before running any type of scan switch off system restore, otherwise problem is still there within restore point, after running and clearing any issues create a new restore point from there.

You might try the 'standard' approach from MalwareTips for this type of adware.

If you use this do the first 4 steps at least, do not stop if step 1 or 2 finds something. If there are any remaining traces of Lucky leap then these should also be removed.

Op, you wrote something about "Control Panel"? The place where you should look at is your program files. If you have a 64 bit system you'll have two folders !!

Then please look for any programs that don't look familiar to you. Should you find some nasty ones you can't delete, please download this registry tool:

Install it, it's virus free and doesn't do any damage to your machine. Once you've set it up, takes only five minutes, you can use the function- MOVE TO and move the unwanted stuff to your desktop and then in the trash bin...

This program will also let you use COPY TO any folder and makes using a computer much easier.

If you're using Google browser, you'll find some good extensions that block add-ins instantly.Best of luck.

P.S. For the poster who wrote Kaspersky nooooo, they have a free VRT- virus removal tool that does a great job, before you even install an Antivirus system on your machine.

You can then download a free and full functioning trial version of Kaspersky Antivirus 2016. I love this software and never had a virus related problem when running Kaspersky.

They have specialist tools (free as well so that's a bonus) to clear even the most stubborn infections. I had put my faith in Anti-Malwarebytes and a couple of other programs (sorry I can't remember the names) but nothing would shift the malware until I tried bleepingcomputer. The first program was RKill followed by ADW Cleaner.

It sounds like a junkware infection so you could try their cleaner. Failing that, Combofix is a very powerful tool so read a tutorial before using it so you don't make a mistake.

I used to use JRT and Adwcleaner and Malwarbytes when I used to run Windows and also through in spybot search and destroy for good measure

I found you have to use a combination of tool to clean your computers and to keep it clean

Also a good idea to use Adblock plus on your browser to stop a lot of these nasties from installing

and never install tool bars

also when installing programs read everything very carefully and opt out of installing other free software that comes with some programs

But if you want to get away from Viruses get Linux installed as its Virus free I use Linux Mint 17.3 on all my computers now

its just the same as Windows XP , Win7 to use

Use spybot and set it to run before windows starts--that'll trash it.

should be your first port of Call as they just run from the EXE file and don’t install as a program

Some virus's will not allow you to install Anti Virus Anti Malware programs

Then once you run these 2 programs

try some other programs

Once free of virus's check to make sure you firewall is turned on as Virus's sometimes turn it off

You even have to install your Antivirus program again as Virus's may make it not work

Your windows Recovery may also be turned off

Spot on after moving to Linux Mint

I started doing research on Anti-virus’s it seems they are only ever about 20% defective

The best way to be safe is don’t download fro bad sites

Ad-blockersdo wonders to stop nasties

Good firewalls

regular scans with a mix of scanners

Careful when installing programs and Opted out of installing software accompanying what ever you are installing

But really getting away from Windows is the Go

change your DNS to point to open dns they block a lot of bot/malware traffic by default.

also download emsisoft emergency kit to use for targeted scanning (before/after infection)

and use an anti-virus/anti-malware program like AVIRA to monitor real time scanning.

That's about the best Info I can give unless you are infected with a specific virus, and if that's the case download Hijack This! (HJT) and head over to bleepingcomputer.com and post your results in their "Am I infected?" forum.

Clear DNS Cache:
