Executions at lowest level since 1991; death sentences fall

WASHINGTON (AP) — The number of people executed in the United States this year dropped to the lowest level since 1991, as states impose fewer death sentences and defendants in capital cases get access to better legal help.

NACC chairman nominee to be submitted for royal endorsement in the next 1-2 days

BANGKOK, 16 December 2015 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) said the nominee for Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will be submitted for royal endorsement in the next 1-2 days.


NLA President Pornpetch Wichidcholchai spoke regarding the NACC’s nomination of Pol Gen Vacharapol Prasarnratchakij as the new head of the NACC, replacing former Chairman Panthep Klanarong.

Mr Pornpetch said the Secretariat of the Senate will then submit the nomination along with the list of five new NACC members for royal endorsement. The submission process is expected to conclude in the next 1-2 days.

Interest policy rate kept at 1.5 percent

BANGKOK -- The Monetary Policy Committee today (Wednesday) agreed unanimously to keep the policy interest rate at 1.5 percent unchanged having assessedthat economic recovery for the third quarter has picked up with the prospect that the growth rate for the whole year will slightly exceeded the 2.7 percent projection.

Rayong tycoon’s daughter escapes death after being dumped unconscious into a reservoir

Ponzi scheme victims show up to file complaints with Phitsanuloke police
