Seems to also be a lack of knowledge / understanding that this industry has a bad reputation for fake cosmetic / skin doctors, poor quality products, severe bad treatments, severe bad results, etc.

Even worse is that the 'fake' clinics are only identified after something has gone wrong. Health is just one example where the authorities never check anything until something goes wrong, then the specific problem is exposed with some level of negative reporting.

But the authorities quickly go back to sleep rather than plan / institute better and more advanced methods to quickly / continuously find rouge operators and quickly impose very severe punishments, severe enough to totally frighten off rouge operators / clinics.

Example: a business acquaintance who brought his Indonesian wife to Thailand, she went to the 'spa' in her 5 star hotel, no questions asked by the spa manger / staff, she tried to ask the staff / tell the staff that she was allergic to a certain ingredient, in fact she had the name of the ingredient on a piece of paper, but got the response of 'no problem, our products are perfect'.

Bottom line, she went through 2 years of professional medical treatment in Singapore to eventually fix the skin damage caused by products, which were used in the 5 star spa which had never been tested / approved.

These are exactly the reasons that they will do well since they are protected by weak regulation governing advertising and draconian defamation laws. Though international business provides some of their income the vast bulk of their revenues is from within Thailand.
