Lemmy: Fans call for periodic table element to be named after Motörhead frontman

A petition has been launched to name an element in the periodic table ‘Lemmium’ in honour of Lemmy the Motörhead frontman who died last week.

Specifically, ‘Lemmium’ would be the chemical name for one of the four new heavy metal elements which were discovered recently.

Although, as the article says, there is some controversy as Lemmy always said Motörhead weren't a heavy metal band.

He always started shows with "We're Motörhead and we play rock and roll."

You can find the petition here.

But then I saw an interview on YouTube where he said Heavy Metal WAS rock and roll, so where does that leave us..?

Memorial service for Lemmy to be shown live on youtube on Sat 9th Jan, 3pm LA time. That's 6am on Sun 10th in Thailand? Find a bar that doesn't mind pulling the shutters down and have a night on the JD to prepare. :)
